Stocking up on hops, judge my selection..

Just put my order through, went with Saaz. I do look forward to hearing your thoughts on Saphir and Sorachi Ace. They both look interesting.

Stocking up on hops, judge my selection..

To add, just read the description of Saphir.. This hop has a low alpha acid content and is very well suited as an aroma hop for the finest European style lagers.A true jewel of the noble hop family with a refined aroma & a mild flavor. Sweet & clean citrus aroma that has a hint of tangerine...

Stocking up on hops, judge my selection..

I was debating the Galena, it looked pretty enticing but have heard so much good about chinook and magnum. So, between a hallertau, Saaz, or tettnager which would be better? What about fuggle? I'm pretty much hop illiterate at this point :drunk:

Stocking up on hops, judge my selection..

Which one would you swap out for which noble?

Stocking up on hops, judge my selection..

After going to the LHBS to get hops for brew day I decided it was time to save some serious $$ and order in bulk from hops direct. My favorite beers are (in order-ish) IPA, Pales, Hefs, Reds .. I also would like to experiment with other things including fruit in 2nd but those are my preferred...

Cheap & Easy 10 Gallon Rubbermaid MLT Conversion

Quick question on ordering the stuff from bargain fittings. It doesn't specifically list what is in the kit and I don't have the cooler with me. Should I get the regular cooler or thick walled cooler kit for the 10gallon rubbermaid from home depot?

Cheap & Easy 10 Gallon Rubbermaid MLT Conversion

I am pretty sure it was the crush. I'll follow your advice/command and do the conversion. I think I'll just order from Bargain Fittings I'll just need the steel mesh braid and the "weld less fitting for cooler" right?

    Indoor All Grain Brewing?

This is a fantastic idea! Thanks for the link!

    Indoor All Grain Brewing?

Probably going to do the steel braid conversion. I also have a grain bag that fits inside the cooler that I can drape over the side and hold in place by screwing the lid on.. I did that for a partial mash last weekend. I only got 48% efficiency but I am sure there were other variables that...

    Indoor All Grain Brewing?

This past weekend I picked up a 10 gallon rubbermaid jug cooler to use for mashing/sparging. Next I am going to get a 40qt aluminum to span 2 burners, hopefully that gets hot enough to boil. I'm going to use my current 24qt pot to heat mashing and sparging water. I think that should do it...

    dual-pot all grain brewing

Wow.. that looks about PERFECT for me, and for a good price!

Cheap & Easy 10 Gallon Rubbermaid MLT Conversion

I found myself a 10gallon rubbermaid this weekend but held off on doing the conversion so I could test using a grain bag. This was my first partial mash and I used a grain bag fit inside entirely, draped the top of the bag over the sides then screwed the lid on. I know there are tons of...

    Indoor All Grain Brewing?

I was just thinking of using my exhaust fan in the kitchen as well as a window fan.. hopefully that would be enough.

    Indoor All Grain Brewing?

I am fairly plumbingly challenged.. Can this be used as a plug in standalone unit that a kettle can be placed on?

    Indoor All Grain Brewing?

I was wondering if anyone has come up with a method for indoor all grail 5 gallon full boils? I have seen DB stovetop method but I don't think I can get 7+ gallons to boil on my stove top with breaking something. I was thinking of setting up a 5 gallon hot tank, a 7-10 mash cooler, and run a...

Mash Tun Cooler or 2nd Pot for mashing?

I think I will be picking up a 5 gallon beverage cooler from Lowes I think. Sounds like that's the better long term option. For this batch I will probably just brew in a bag since I don't think I'll have time to build a false bottom. Lookin forward to trying out mashing this weekend.. :rockin:

    Blueberry Wheat Help

Thanks for your feedback, I think you are right. This is also my first attempt at a partial mash. Simpler probably would be better. I mostly wanted to use up some stuff I have on hand. Any suggestions based on what I have? 2- 3lb bags of dry wheat extract 3- 3lb bags of dry light extract 3-...

Easy Partial Mash Brewing (with pics)

I am going to give this a shot this weekend. First question, I am going to need either a pot for mashing (currently have one lidless 24qt pot) or a cooler. Which would you suggest I purchase? I brew in a small kitchen in my apt so space is pretty limited. Next question is for recipe advice...

Mash Tun Cooler or 2nd Pot for mashing?

So I am about to make the jump into partial mashing/AG having been inspired by DB's thread on easy stove partial mash. So my dilemma.. I am pretty much restricted to brewing in a fairly small kitchen in my apartment. I currently have a 24qt aluminum stock pot that I have been using. I plan to...
