Evidence (via studies) behind step mashing

Looking back at ryno's threads it appears he hasn't taken the time to research anything on his own. I expect a lot more threads like these.

    NHC 2012 First Round Scoresheets

I finally got my Atlanta sheets yesterday. I scored two 39's, two 38's, and a 36 but none advanced. Mini-BOS was checked for my amber-style Belgian pale ale. My wit, pumpkin ale, and Mexican chocolate stout got some praise as well. Just need some fine tuning according the judges. Overall I'm...

does force carbing kegs just eat c02?

I'll go with tank in the fridge. Same thing happens with mine.

If you could brew any beer right now what would it be?

A Brussels Calling clone by Braaserie de la Senne. Got to try this at Avenue Pub in New Orleans a couple of weeks ago and it's an excellent and refreshing Belgian pale ale with hop character. I need a recipe! Also, if anyone has a good honey blonde recipe, then that will be my next brew.

    NHC 2012 First Round Scoresheets

Anyone enter Atlanta? I can't remember when it said judging would take place but it says, "Database Received." I haven't received anything via snail mail or e-mail yet for any of my 5 entries.

Who got inspired to brew a triple from byo

You read my mind. I'll probably brew the recipe from the magazine next month. I've got an English IPA and a Cream Ale to do first.

    What are you drinking now?

Just had a Stone IPA and I'm following it up with a homebrewed Mexican Chocolate Stout.

    Hydrometer and Thermometer

Thermapen You'll never buy another thermometer. Every other thermometer I've used in the past has either crapped out on me or read temperature inaccurately. A few degrees makes all the difference in mashing.

    Neighbors!

Wow, small world. I lived in Corpus for work in 2009 right around the corner from B&J's. They probably have the best tap selection in the area and the pizza was always good. I remember going to a St. Arnold's cask tapping there one evening. I'm glad you're meeting some nice fellow...

    Brewing Clubs in NW Houston

Count me in for the Backyard Grill meeting. Let me know where you guys will be so I'm not just wandering around like a fool. I wonder if they'll have some Endeavour on tap.

An open letter to cab drivers

I was in New York a while back for about a week and I think I only took a cab once or twice. The Subway was ultra convenient and got me everywhere I needed to go. I wish we had public transportation in Texas.

    Apps for brewing

You can edit the grain temp and water volumes on iBrewMaster and cuatomize it for your set-up. I always hit my temps. I love the app and use it on my iPad for brew days. The timers are a great feature.

NHC 2012 SEATTLE - Almost Sold out after 24 hrs | SOLD OUT

Got my tickets an hour after they went on sale. This will be my first NHC. Can't wait. FYI, the hotel is already booked up though at the discounted rate. I went with the discounted rate at the overflow hotel (Westin) which is supposedly connected via skybridge.
