New England IPA Julius clone (BYO magazine)

Yep, get the "Old Fashioned" or "Quick", do not get the "Instant".

Nothing but issues since changing gear.

I know it might not make sense since you liked your five gallon batches and I assume your current process is similar, but it sounds to me like you still have a lot of hop particulate floating in the beer. (this is not a comment on the previous pictures, I understand that is in your current...

    Brew Boss Systems

I also have an issue with the hop-boss connection status showing even though I don't have one and it is disabled in the parameters. I can make it go away temporarily by enabling then disabling the hop-boss in parameters. I will also try to supply a screen shot of the file dialog with the...

    Anyone have a Fermentasaurus?

That's really odd, you must have a ton of trub. I've gone 100 batches or so with Speidels and the stock valve and have never had a clog. Sucks a little bit of the yeast cake in but that's about it. I use a hop spider so no hops getting in the fermenter and there's usually about a 2" yeast cake...

    Brew Boss Systems

With ver 2.04 when i go to save a brew steps file I get white text on a slightly "darker" white background in the box at the top where you input the file name, anybody else?

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Does this mean you skipped the 60 minute addition as well and used only whirlpool and dry-hops? edit: OK, I see a few posts back that you used WP and DH as the only additions...

American Pale Ale Russian River Row 2 Hill 56 Clone

It was decent, but for me Eureka! is better suited for a supporting role. It has a pretty unique flavor that I think would work well with simcoe or cascade. But for something originally called "experimental pine fruit" I got no pine at all from it.

    Making a shandy

Since this is a big experiment anyway, maybe bottle half with the kool-aid and half "as-is". When you're ready to have one of the "as-is" bottles just mix it with a grapefruit soda like Squirt, you end up with a type of "Radler" kind of a German shandy. I do this with a blonde ale in the...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Do you have a part number for the filter you bought? Vacmotion lists their filters in "mesh" sizes, so I'm assuming you bought the 100 mesh filter which is 80 microns.

Brewometer kickstarter thoughts - digital bluetooth hydrometer

According to the website it needs to be in a vertical position to turn off, not necessarily upside down. FWIW, I started tracking the battery life on mine for the last couple of changes and I'm getting ~45 days with the old version and ~65 with the newer version. We'll see how those numbers...

Brewometer kickstarter thoughts - digital bluetooth hydrometer

@BrunDog What BT scanner app do you use? I have one of the "older" Tilts without led indicators and it would be sweet to be able to check the battery status.

Brewometer kickstarter thoughts - digital bluetooth hydrometer

FWIW, I have two of them and while I agree they are not accurate enough to take the actual gravity reading at face value at the end of fermentation (they are always within a point at the start), I personally find them useful in tracking the general trend and trust that as an indication of when...

Blonde Ale Kona Big Wave Golden Ale clone

Yep, according to the mfg you would use one tablet for 10 gal so 1/2 for five. It goes in @ 5 - 7 minutes left in the boil, any sooner and it can "denature" and be less effective...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

You can search around to verify, but I believe Martin has said a few different times that you really don't need to acidify the sparge water if you are using 100% RO. It's really the alkalinity that you are trying to overcome by acidifying and for all intents and purposes RO doesn't have any.

Using 120v inside 240v control panel

It's been a while since I wired mine so please verify with other sources, but I believe the way it works is the pigtail from the gfci must be connected to the panel neutral if you want to source both 240 and 120 or if you want the "test" button to work with a strictly 240V load. The neutral for...
