    cleaning keg first time?

I made this for very little $ and it is amazing. Star San will not touch organics. I scope of OXY-FREE and then plain water to rinse. I wash 1-5 kegs removing nothing but the lid. If the link below does not work, just you tube 'home-brew keg and carboy washer'

15' of tubing and only foam!

^THIS And get rid of your picnic taps. :mug:

Same brew same yeast but looks different

Same here. I brew 10g batches and when I split them into 5g primaries they are never the same visually. They typically taste the same unless I've done something intentional (different yeast, variable DH, Oak one, ECT) There are endless variables that would contribute to this. RDWHAH:rockin:

    15 minute brew

This has been done by myself and others on here. It can produce a very good beer. It does use a lot of hops. 15 minutes kills the nasties... Just Do It! :mug:

    Choice of Beer Line Cleaner

I do this too and concur, it does work great!

    Yeast Cake or Trub???

Both look to be yeast. The one with 3" in it is more than enough for a 5g batch. Use say 1/3 of it to make your starter. Cheers!

    Ferm. Question

Perhaps your not sealed completely. Airlock activity is but one way to determine active fermentation. Have you opened your primary? I'd wait it out a few more days and then take a gravity reading. RDWHAHB

What is the shortest amount of time I should wait before trying a bottled beer?

Many, many beers can benefit from some type of aging. That said; if you're desperate to be drinking this one, as stated above wait a week and chill one for 24hrs. If you like it, that's the shortest. When I get a brew to last me longer than a couple of weeks in my keg I am always amazed at how...

    IPA low mash temperature

Couple of months?!? It'll be a Pale Ale by then... Drink it!:mug:

How long to leave in primary before going to secondary for dry hopping?

A secondary is not necessary but it is fine if you want to do it. Consider that doing it can expose your beer to oxygen it no longer needs or will benefit from. Your time frame is fine. I will tell you that I leave my IPAs in Primary for 20 days, then move to secondary and DH for 5 days minimum...

    Measuring Fermentation Temperatures

I use a STC-1000 in a chest freezer and attach my probe exactly as described here (bubble wrap and bungee). It has worked very well for me and my beers have gone from good to great adding fermentation temp control. I recommend this in front of the long list of things most new brewers are faced...

Using my Wine Making Equipment to Start Brewing!

The internet has lots of places to order extract kits from. I am assuming you will be brewing extract w/ specialty grains to start. If you have a LHBS (local home brew shop) I suggest you go there. IMHO Revvy has the best bottling process and I use it when I bottle. It can be found here...

Anyone else mash in a bag in a cooler?

    Extract Brewing Secondary Fermentation.

IMHO: Secondaries are not necessary for a majority of brewing situations. Are you dry hopping? Will you 'lager' your pilsner? If yes, then transfer. If you are just going to let fermentation complete at room temperature then there is no need to transfer to a secondary. Let it sit for two or...

Is there any way to carbonate quickly?

I know you have heard it but it bears reiterating; You CAN get carbed beer after 7 days in a bottle. It WILL be under carbonated and it WILL taste green and not up to it's full potential. It's not magic...

I did some research and learned some lessons yesterday... I'll leave it as is and brew the Birthday Saison tonight. When ordering grain online, I will have each grain put into its own bag. And I NEED to buy a mill!! Thanks for the replies!
