    losing yeast through airlock/blowoff tube

I recently had to dispose of a good amount of yeast for the same reason. After an aggressive fermentation the bucket my blow off tube went into had a good amount of yeast and it seemed like a waste to throw it out. I started to wonder if anyone ever attempted to reclaim the yeast from a blow...

    Belgian Trippel issues.

I've brewed a Belgian trippel a few times always using Wyeast 3787. I found by adding the majority of the sugars/candi syrup about the time the fermentation starts to slow worked best for me. I use two lb of sugar in the recipe I have, one lb ea of corn sugar and candi syrup. I put half the...

I checked Omega's web site and it seems like they don't...

    brewbucket racking and bottling process

If you rack from the brew bucket you'll need to add priming sugar and it may need to be stirred. That might stir up the sediment. I also have a brew bucket but still use a bottling bucket when filling bottles.

    All things Trappist

I’ll be making a Belgian Tripel soon that calls for a lb of sugar and a lb of candy syrup. I plan on adding half the required sugar during the boil and the remaining sugar and syrup after the fermentation starts. I’ve read a few posts about this technique and it sounds like the way to go...

Maple Porter-when to add the syrup

I recently brewed an Old Ale and I wanted to have a bit of maple in it. I put 2 oz of pure maple extract in the secondary the day before I bottled it and used 148 grams of pure maple syrup as a primer for bottling. I put about 5.25 gallons of ale into bottles and let sit for a month. I opened...
