    Still hate bottling.

This also depends on the brand of beer bottle that you are reusing. DFH are my favs. They labels come off very easily, then its just a matter of wiping the glue off of the bottle. (Long hammer bottles are similar) Sam Adams bottles are usually pretty cooperative too, it just sucks having...

    Still hate bottling.

Tell your friends to either invest in a growler, or they get to enjoy the beer at your place. If they want beer to go, and dont have a growler - they get the tippy-sippy cup that my daughter had when she was an infant. I too dont care for bottling, but I find them convenient when I brew a...

    Any UFC Fans Out there?

LOL That pic was of me, my buddy Giovanni Lemm, and Ed Herman. Ed did some commentary with us, but I think I pissed him off a bit. Cant remember why though... LOL He was kind of a ****** anyway (IMO)

    Any UFC Fans Out there?

+1 to the Vegas trip suggestion, and having worked for smaller shows and having killer seats - Id much rather sit at home and enjoy the show with my DVR and multiple camera angles. Dont get me wrong, live shows are the **** but you usually find yourself looking at the big screen to see what...

ABV - I just made the connection.

LOL yes, but not from Star Trek... Maybe this would be better suited in the Marijuana thread over in the debate forum ;)

Getting a little concerned about my Apfelwein

GAH REVVY!! You of course had to ask the age old question of which I am guilty of... *Sigh* No... My lazy ass failed to take grav readings. I think I will do this tonight when I get home, and follow the n00b advise that I (dont) advise others on... I dont believe there were any other...

Getting a little concerned about my Apfelwein

It would appear that my classic signs of fermentation with Apfelwein have failed to appear and I am coming up on day 4/5 of creation. SOPs were followed, 5 gallons of AJ, 2 Lbs of corn sugar and a packet of yeast. The only issue was my ferm cab temp held steady at no more than 60 degrees...

ABV - I just made the connection.

Ive always heard the term ABV here slung around here on the forums (rightfully so) its an abbreviation of 'Alcohol By Volume' On another forum that I visit, ABV is just as commonly used, but its meaning is different - 'Already Been Vaped' Rock on bretheren. Rock on...

    Anyone Snus?

There is no real 'right way' to snus. Leaving a snus in cause it has flavor - thats called efficient. :) And most people leave it in the top lip cause you salivate less. Its a matter of preference really. Snus on!

I'm concerned about getting an infection in my beer

I'm concerned about getting an infection in my beer

You see??!! Its true, Im ruining my perfectly good beer by adding all kinds of mouth germs then dumping it into puke! Damn... I guess my next step would be administering my brew rectally. But then again it just wouldnt taste the same :P

I'm concerned about getting an infection in my beer

I dont know if this is a rational thought or not, but Ive been becoming more and more concerned with infecting my own beer. Normally my brewdays go off without a hitch, fermentation is a lazy process (for me) and it goes into the keg for aging with no issues. Upon sipping my first pour, I...

    Hops All at once....uh oh.

No, dry hopping will just add some very nice hop aroma to go with the wonderful bitterness. The bitterness will mellow with time, as will the hop aroma as well. Whoah, I just read that you used Magnums for your first hop addition. Stand by to have your face melted off!! Thats some GOOD ****...

    Hops All at once....uh oh.

Dont sweat it man. I have done this before with an experimental IPA more than once. In fact, I did a FWH as well. Forgot my other hops at 30/15/Flameout. Just dry hopped that bizzle and drank. WHOAH was that bitter but it mellowed nicely and I came to like it :)

A few questions from a newbie.

Yes, just leave it. Even IF you decided to scrape it back into the bucket (nevermind all of the chances of infection you might invite by doing that) It will just settle to the bottom and be more stuff you have to avoid sucking up when it comes time to bottle. :)

A few questions from a newbie.

+1 +1 and +1 to all of the advise here. In a nutshell (and my 2 pesos) - Stick with a long primary. Save your secondary vessel (which Im sure is a carboy) for a batch of Apfelwein. Or use it in the future when you are racking on to fruit. +1 to AHS One thing that noone touched on was the...
