    Inflated/Pressured Lupulin Powder Packs?

Bought an oz packet of Mosaic lupulin powder from YCH hops about a month ago. Kept it in the freezer until a few days ago and removed it to dry hop a California Common. To my surprise the packet was now super inflated and pressurized, unlike how I bought it at the LHBS. At the time of...

    Shandy/Radler. Ingredients/Method?

Does anyone have a favorite brand/type of lemonade mix for their shandy? This sounds like the option that easiest and most inexpensive.

    Shandy/Radler. Ingredients/Method?

Decided today to brew a shandy next, so I guess it’s time to figure this s**** out again. Though, I do have a random tip for stewing fresh lemons with zest/juice in hot water and then fermenting. Don’t do it! I made an “all natural” lemonade last year and it was akin to alcoholic lemon...

Transferring and souring a commercial beer

Sounds like this would work if you can also build starters for the Lacto + Brett and pitch them into the new keg w/o oxygen. My concern would be the dissolved CO2 and the added pressure that will come with it into the new keg. Pitching the cultures directly into that pressurized environment...

    Wine Kit vs Commercial Wine

First let me say I’ve never made a wine from grape must, but I make country wines, mead, cider and beer. If one is attempting to replicate barrel aging for wine, could you use some sort of thin plastic fermentor (ei. Better Bottle) along with oak cubes/spirals? Thin plastic fermentors will...

    Tap water in Hillsboro area

The best thing to do would be look up your local water supplier or go on their website and try to find a water report. Often the mineral contents and other factors in these reports can change seasonally. Many times you can get this print out for free. Hope this helps!

    Big Brew Day Question

Is this wort from a brewery or some sort of club event? If that’s the case, a separate mash and then blending sounds like the way to go.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Over the weekend I brewed a rye Kentucky Common. Went well besides a minor mishap. First time brewing almost 6 months! Good to be back in it again!

Most annoying response when you tell someone you're a homebrewer?

Working in the bar/alcohol industry, I don’t think parental consent matters, even state to state. If a 14 year old kid came into my brewery asking for a beer, even if it were legal and their parent have consent, I wouldn’t serve them. The likelihood of me going to jail, losing my job, and paying...

    What will the neighbors think?

For all the comments from neighb’s believing we’re making meth, do you think they would even recognize an ACTUAL meth setup if they saw it?! Probably not! LOL. Don’t worry folks just cooking up some meth in my garage for all the world to see! Just your friendly neighborhood drug lord here!

    What will the neighbors think?

There’s a number of older folks in my apartment, and I brew in the back yard area of my building. Amazed no one has called the cops or VFD. Picture a very breezy spring day outside with the two tier outdoor burner. Can’t find my insulation to properly manage mash temps. Forward to me...

    What will the neighbors think?

I live in an apartment complex that has storage lockers lockers located in the building. I brew out back and I keep all my brewing equipment (which includes my propane tank) in the caged locker. We switched apartments in the building and were talking with the leasing manager and he joked about...

experiences of novice cider-maker in islamic country (minimum tools)

Man with how busy you’ve been, it sounds like the obsession has already kicked in! PS: Buy a back-up hydrometer along with your graduated cylinder for measuring. Hydrometers tend to be made of pretty thin glass and can be prone to breaking easily. Cheers!

experiences of novice cider-maker in islamic country (minimum tools)

Sounds like you need to make mead my friend! Plus from my limited experience making mead and cider, mead is much more forgiving and simple. All a mead requires is stabilizing it with potassium-metabisulfite (aka. campden tablets) or potassium-sorbate to halt fermentation, and then mixing more...

Most annoying response when you tell someone you're a homebrewer?

Slightly off topic but still about ignorance of drinking culture. My SWBMO and I go to this wine fest every winter in Erie. Upon SWMBO telling her mom that there were crackers at every booth, her mom replies “Oh were they serving soup?!”
