    Immersion Chiller Idea Using Kegerator

I would buy a cheap submersible pond pump at Home Depot or where ever and start with tap water before switching to the chilled water. Won't waste CO2 and it's basically the same idea.

    Hop growing in the tropics

Didn't try this when I lived in HI, but from what I've read about hops growing, is they don't do well in the tropics because they need a shorted photo period (daylight) in order to trigger flowering. I suppose you could try growing indoors under grow lights like some other things that are grown...

    Storing Grains

Do you have your own mill? Otherwise you're going to have to go to Homebrew in Paradise to mill your grain anyways, so no point in storing it. But if you buy in bulk and have a mill, many people store unmilled grain in food safe air tight containers, that are used to store things like dog food...

    Final Gravity too High!!

From what I've read on here, racking an under-attenuated beer on top of another beers yeast cake is the most effective option. If you have another beer in your pipeline that is almost done fermenting with a clean neutral yeast (like us-05), you can just rack on top of that.

    Three week dry hop?

I made an Amarillo SMaSH and didn't get around to bottling it for about 2 months after dry hopping. I noticed vegetal flavors for the first few weeks but after a little aging it went away and was a very nice brew.

    Water Profile for a APA?

I use Randy Mosher's profile for Pale Ales for APAs and IPAs. Ca: 110 Mg: 18 Na: 17 Cl: 50 SO4:350 CaCO3: 57

    Fermentation Bin Infection

If you're talking about a plastic fermentation container, make sure you don't use anything rough to clean it. Scouring pads or even the rough side of a sponge will put minute scratches in the plastic giving bacteria plenty of places to hide that you won't be able to sanitize. The most labor free...

    freezer for fermenting during summer?

A few people seem to like these. And you can't beat the price. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/ebay-aquarium-temp-controller-build-163849/

    Taking gravity readings...

You're definitely confusing yourself. Each line is .002 SG. It is a little more than two marks past 1.010.

    Taking gravity readings...

From your picture I'd say its 1.015-16. But you want to also measure the temperature of your sample to adjust your reading based on the calibration temp of your hydrometer. http://www.brewersfriend.com/hydrometer-temp/

    Water Modification Videos, TH's Spreadsheet

It would be easier to add the conversion yourself in a couple of blank cells. For instance in cell G8 enter the formula "=F8*0.264". Then input your volume in liters in cell F8, and G8 will be the equivalent volume in gallons, which you can then type into D8 or wherever.

    Water adjustment for a stout

So I'm making a 40SRM milk stout soon and I am playing around with the Ezwatercalculator to try to adjust my water chemistry. I BIAB so no sparging. My target is Dublin water profile and I feel like I'm close but wanted some input. My water is: Ca:3.6 Mg:1.4 Na:8.1 Cl:10 SO4:4...

    Which Yeast to Wash?

Personally, I wouldn't bother washing the 1056 yeast as you can buy Safale US05 and get the same thing in dry form. Its really cheap too.

Can someone explain the pros/cons of boil size and time?

Are you doing extract or all grain brewing? The consensus here is full boils generally taste better in the final product. For extract brewing full boils mean you don't have to mess around with late extract additions (adding majority of extract towards end of boil to reduce...

    Getting started with kegging

Shipping to HI will kill most deals on CO2 tanks and corny kegs. I've found there's enough people on Oahu to find good deals on craigslist. If you're patient it will definitely save you some money.

How long for krausen to fall? (Brewer's Best Weizenbier kit)

It's always good practice to check the hydrometer reading over the course of 2-3 days to make sure you have consistent readings and the yeast are actually done fermenting. Also, while some wheat and wit styles can be make quicker than others, most on this forum will recommend leaving beer in the...
