Thanks for having us. I don't get to hang out with other homebrewers very often, so this was pretty cool. Looking forward to seeing how this project turns out! Edit: Just watched the video. That airlock activity is insane. I'd like to know how long that goes on before it dies down.

Best Way to Split Up a Large Yeast Starter?

Meh, I'll just use Wyeast 3711 French Saison. Probably close enough.

Best Way to Split Up a Large Yeast Starter?

I was thinking about ordering some yeast from BSI, but the smallest quantity they ship in seems to be 1BBL. What would be the best way to separate that into 5 gallon starters? I reckon I'd use 1/6 of that initial starter for a 5 gallon batch. Should I just use quart mason jars to split and store...

You initially said the 29th, somewhere in the thread it got converted to the 28th, but I always assumed you still meant the 29th.

    Batch Sparging AG Help

If you haven't done so, definitely add your mash tun dead space to Beersmith and have it adjust volume for that amount. Worked wonders for me.

You can have a gallon of my space, Brewbien. I filled out the form for a 5.5G batch, which will amount to 5G total after trub loss. Vegan, how long are we planning on aging? I want to mark my calendar so I can brew and ferment a replacement batch after the initial casking. Thanks!

Ordered 3oz of the aged hops from Fresh Hops and 2oz of Perle for an upcoming ESB. I like that they have a $5 minimum for orders. Thanks for the link, Brewbien.

Sweet! I think pitching dregs in the barrel sounds like fun. I have no idea how it would turn out. Did you have any specific bottle dregs you were thinking about? John's Market is on my route home, so I could pick up a bottle and drink most of it for science.

Should we bring some growler's of homebrew along for dump day or is it a dump-and-run? :P
