American Wheat Beer Sterling Gold (3.5% AG, Light and Zesty)

Brewed what was supposed to be a 5.5 gallon batch of this on Monday. Not sure what the hell happened but I ended up with a little over 4 gallons into the primary at an OG of 1.052. I knew I was a little short going into the BK, but only about a half gallon which I blamed on the rice hulls...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Tried that once, but somehow I can't brew without drinking at least a couple homebrews and ended up tanked by noon. Good luck! :tank:

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewing a slightly modified version of EdWort's Haus Pale ale this weekend. I've been tinkering with the grain bill for 4 or 5 batches and this time I'll be subbing Victory for the Vienna.

Experimental Beer Slim's Graham Cracker Ale 2.0

Cool. I'll pick up an extra pack of S-04 just in case it's way over the beersmith estimate. Cheers :mug:

Experimental Beer Slim's Graham Cracker Ale 2.0

I'd go with the standard 4oz corn sugar in 2 cups of water - http://www.howtobrew.com/section1/chapter11-4.html

Dry hopping timing question – what would you do?

Meh, if it was me I'd dry hop (in primary or secondary, whatever you prefer) while on vacation, then bottle when I got back.

Recipe for tomorrow, and a question....

I've brewed this a couple of times, based on my notes the first time I mashed for 60mins @ 155, ended up with 1.070 OG / 1.020 FG. Second time I went a little lower, 60mins @ 153, ended up 1.074 OG / 1.021 FG. Around 10-14 days in primary, then another 7-10 days for dry hopping (don't...

Experimental Beer Slim's Graham Cracker Ale 2.0

This sounds awesome and will most likely be my next brew, assuming the LHBS has restocked their MO. One question though Slim, are you really getting that high of an OG? Even if I hit the good side of my eff (usually near 80%), Beersmith calculates this around 1.065-1.070. I know someone...

    Central Ohio Group Buy?

I'm in Cbus and would definitely go in for a group buy of grain and/or hops. A community hop garden sounds awesome too, planning to plant my first this coming spring. Wonder if we could get something going in Whetstone or another city park. Also, am I the only one that gets supplies at The...

    Autumn Seasonal Beer Punkin' Ale

Brewed this on 9/29, left in primary for about 3 weeks, then another week or so in secondary with gelatin added. Kegged and carbed for about a week. Tapped a few days ago and it's fantastic. I'm planning to do another round with a little more everything next time around to kick it up to a...

Making starter wort, then adding yeast the next day. Doomed?

Brewed on 5/28, will dry hop around 6/18 for 7 - 10 days, so should be kegged and carbed by the 4th of July. I'm sure it will still be a little green then, but I don't have the patience to let this one sit any longer than that ;)

damnit, meant to include a spice mine reference in my post ;)

Making starter wort, then adding yeast the next day. Doomed?

Hops schedule was: .5oz @ FWH .75oz @ 60min 1oz @ 15min 1oz @ 5min 1.25oz @ 1min (all pellet at 9.1%) Plus I Dogfish styled about .25oz between 30 minutes and flameout. I had that little extra left over from an earlier brew and figured what the heck. I'll probably use 1oz for dry...

Making starter wort, then adding yeast the next day. Doomed?

Brew day was great, had a buddy over to help and the only glitch was forgetting the irish moss...no biggie. We did slightly better than my usual 75% efficiency and ended up with an OG of 1.066, pretty happy about that and glad I had the starter. I added my yeast to the starter Friday around...

Making starter wort, then adding yeast the next day. Doomed?

I'm going off this one - https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f69/bells-two-hearted-ale-clone-close-they-come-91488/, with some slight changes to the hop schedule to account for a FWH. Should end up around 60 IBUs. I read most of that thread, but can't remember if there is a PM conversion in...
