Kegging / Dispensing Question (cross post soda)

Thanks Day_Trippr. I am in Southern Alberta, Canada. None of my local hardware stores seem to carry 3/16" vinyl tubing. Most seem to come in 3/4 or 3/8 ... I can find 3/16 on Amazon but at extraordinary prices. I haven't had good success with LHBS either (I did find a carbonator cap there...

Kegging / Dispensing Question (cross post soda)

Hello, first off this is a cross post from the soda forum but I figured I pick on the brains here. Sorry if this is "bad". I am getting ready to do up my first keg of root beer. However I find myself only able to source 3/8" vinyl tubing. I'm curious to know if this can/will still work...

I am finally ready to start kegging my first batch of force carb rootbeer. However when it comes to dispensing I have a question. I have 3/8 ID vinyl tubing. Is there any way that I can make this work to serve at proper volume/speed etc without foaming. I live in a neck of the world...

how much co2 to carb a corny

Hello, I am going to be starting in on my first batch of forced carb soda but i'm wondering how much CO2 it takes to complete the process. I have a smaller tank that I've been using for doing my 2L bottles for a while; it's not empty or anything but should I get a charge first before doing...

    recipe and starting forced carb

So, I've done a few batches of fermentation carb'd root beer and they've turned out pretty good. I've just inherited a fridge, after our upgrade, and am going to move it to my garage to use as my "beer fridge". I've found some comments on the set up for hose and whatnot but i'm...

Article: Condensation not good for your beer

Drinks are good cold....I don't really like drinking room temperature or tepid. The colder the better. I'm not saying add ice to your beer but keep it cold!

Article: Condensation not good for your beer

So I came across an interesting article "how to keep a beer cold". The article suggests that condensation on your favorite beverage is not necessarily a good thing and can raise the temp of your beer by up to 9 degrees; definately not good for a chilly drink...

    First time Kegging - HELP

Picked up PBW, Aspetox, and a picnic tap. I know the tap doesnt really fit with the purchase but it was a good price at the time. I will do my keg takedown and maybe put some pics together on Imgur to show what I've got. I need to find a good source for the gas and liquid disconnects. Also...

    First time Kegging - HELP

St. Pug.....That is excellent information. I have a small co2 tank that I use for carbbing up the odd 2 litre bottle of soda already. I am currently looking for oxyclean and starsan and hopefully a local source for o-rings and such for the corny keg. I'm just not sure where to start but I...

    First time Kegging - HELP

Okay I've been lurking and posting here and there for a while but I was wondering If I could get some help and feedback on kegging up my first batch of soda. I have been naturally carbing rootbeer for a while but SWMBO is not keen on the idea and I've never been able to get my flavors quite...

    Glass or Plastic

Its possible that it could be flavors leeching from the plastic but the bottles have only ever been used for root beer. However, I cannot discount that but the flavor coming out isn't plastic. I'm going to try again and this time bottle the same batch of brew into glass and PETN and see what...

    Glass or Plastic

:drunk: I've heard it said, and read it too, that one should not yeast carbonate using glass bottles (as due to bottle bombs). I'm wondering if anyone has documented the flavor differences that could occur in a batch using glass vs. using plastic (petn) bottles? Out of curiosity my friend...

    Kegging Newbie Q

    Sodas that blew your mind

For what it is I really enjoy Henry Weinhardts root beer, vanilla cream, and orange cream sodas. I wouldn't say they blow my mind but if i'm looking for something to sip thats tasty ---- usually spend a bit on those ones.

My Root Beer stinks!! I give up.

Hey Guys, I've had the same smell off of fermenting that you guys are talking about. The only way that I fixed this was with really good and thorough cleaning and sanitizing. I wash my spoons, bottles, caps, hands, counters, siphon, measuring cups, and leave a little in the sink with a cloth...
