    Connecticut 55 gallon drum brewery

eksf26, Does that help? A king cooker would work as it already has a built in stand. It just might take a bit longer to heat up.

    Connecticut 55 gallon drum brewery

I am not sure what that means "won't work" I had adapters for clover clamps, or you can use reducers to use 1/2" ball valves. What are you trying to do?

    Connecticut 55 gallon drum brewery

For the Mash I had it insulated with a hot water heater wrap and a herms system. By recirculating I was able to keep a good temp considering the size of the grain bill helped keep it constant. The boil kettle I used a 300,000 btu burner hooked up to a propane tank. It might have been over...

    Connecticut 55 gallon drum brewery

I have two 55 gallon drums (previously used for soda syrup). One set up as a boil kettle the other a mash tun. Each kettle has a 1" ball valve and one is set up with a Fermentap thermometer. The false bottom was custom made by morebeeer and works fine for a mash tun. I would like to sell...

    Connecticut Minibrew 40 gallon fermenters

Sorry they are both sold. I had no problems with scratches. I used pbw with a scrubbie made for stainless steel, then bleach in the tub incase there was a chance of anything hiding in a crack. I then would put it all together and use a no rinse sanitizer, not iodine because it would stain the...

    Solution to yesterdays brew mistake?

You can drink it it will just be weak, blend it with another stronger beer you quickly make and combine the 2 at bottling. Even a small 1 or 2 gallon batch. Pour it 1/2 and 1/2 with another of your beers or a commercial to blend. Never add any new malt to the fermenter. You can add sugar it...

    Dry Hopping in primary

I agree. Too early and you will not get the results you are looking for. I usually wait till the air lock slows down. If you cant check your gravity the bubbles on the air lock can give you a resonable time when to add.

    Connecticut Minibrew 40 gallon fermenters

They are made for 1bbl or 31 gallons, but I have used it for 35. That is pushing it a little and the head touched the top lid during fermentation but we did it that way for a year until I bought a second one. We did some 50 gallon batches with 30 in one and 20 in the other, so 20 gallons was...

    Hops and dogs

You can grow them without worrying about dogs. They are only effected by the spent hops not the hop cones on the plants. Once the vines start to grow it wont put out cones for some time and the vines should be over 5 or 6 feet tall. As you train them up you should also start to remove the...

Anyone using a Stout Tanks System?

I am not sure what you mean by "made sure the gasket was seated properly" every time I use it 2 of us try to line it up before I seal the ring, but it never seals. Am I doing something wrong? I will tighten the sealing ring even more and see if I can close it. Brewing on Sat. so I will know soon.
