    Broken thermometer question

Dropped my thermometer once too many times and now I hear something loose inside it, but can't see how to open it to repair, or if it's just unrepairable. The LBS I bought at is closed for good. There is no name on it at all. I really liked this and would buy another, but wonder if anyone knows...

How Do I Use These Pins for Anchoring Trellis Twine?

Wonder why it's bent at the pointy end? To fit in box? Anyway, yes they anchor the twine to the ground. I'd use them for first year hops as they want to climb. Just let em grow. I cut drop ceiling wire to use on mine.

    Dig Hops while growin' ??

Good that you saved them from the gasoline. If it were me, I'd leave them in the ground until you are ready to move then dig up. Depending on how big, you could pot them up. Or most likely, you'll get some real big. I'd stick them in a canvass bag with moist compost and stick it in a dark spot...

    Too much shade

Not sure if this helps. But I grow on a sunny hill which can get very hot. Seems with climate change and people cutting shade trees around me it gets worse little by little. They can get fried if not watered a lot by me. I tried US Goldings, Cashmere with no success, they died. Northern brewer...

What NZ and Australian hops do you enjoy the most?

I'm drinking an English ale using Windsor yeast that had Comet, Columbus, Cascade, Enigma and Zappa in the boil and dryhopped with Zappa and Enigma. Of all those hops, the Enigma stands out most. Interesting hop to try.

Is their any Homebrew stores that don't charge arm and leg for shipping?

My local homebrew store beats out the online stores. At least for base malt by sack. I'm wondering what's ahead with world dealing with shortages. China seems to have bought most of our corn crop for stuff not even harvested yet to feed their pig herds.

Definitely clipping the first shoots next year. Here's why ...

Mixed feelings about this. One year I cut they all back and they didn't seem to grow back as well. Like it took energy out of them. So, since then always leave 2 or 3 to grow and cut the rest. They seem to like that. I'm sure weather plays a part. From what I understand, you want to time it for...

    Recovering From First Year Failure

My experience when first planting them is try not to let them dry out. I water them in morning and evening with mulch on them. Dig a hole with fertilizer so the water can drain. I also bought Great Lakes Hops once. A plant of Cashmere, but it just died. Usually, I plant rhizomes. But I guess...

Anyone else dealing with smell/taste loss from COVID?

I used to be able to smell a mouse fart a mile away, but lately hawks must be getting them. Losing taste and smell would suck not being able to enjoy hop aromas. I wonder if Neti Pots would help? Hopefully time will resolve it.

Pressure in keg falling off at start

Are you using keg lub? Use very little, thin coating on posts and lid gasket as well. Spray with sanitizer to check for leaks anytime you may touch posts after connecting. Keg Lube - 1 oz | MoreBeer

The mystery of Galaxy hops and harshness

    CO2 gone dry...now what?

Use a little keg lube on the keg post O rings and always check them for leaks after connecting. I spray sanitizer on them. I also dry hop in keg with a paint bag tied with dental floss coming out the lid. I hit that too. Weighing down hops too much can create a leak. I went from a couple marbles...

Trouble getting a weiss right please help

I used Lallemand Munich Classic for a couple Hefe's over the summer fermenting high 60s. They were good, but I would prefer more banana. 3068 is better for banana I believe. But made 3 different batches of a Weizenbock recently using Lallemand Munich Classic and it is a great yeast for that...

    Imperial juice yeast

I've been using Juice yeast for a while now. It seems to really allow the citrus/fruity hops to shine. I'm really liking it with Zappa.

What is the point of adding honey during the boil? What flavour it will bring?

I've brewed with buckwheat honey and other types in the boil at various times. Not much flavor. Read someone puts in their primary as it has anti-bacterial properties so no need to worry about infection. I've been doing that for years and never got an infection. But I notice the honey flavor...
