    Homemade ice cream

I like to use the 1lb bars of chocolate from trader joe's, I use the 72% cacao. Unless you buy ultra premium ice cream the store bought stuff is full so many fillers and who else knows what. If your going to eat ice cream, it better be good, if I make it, I feel like I earned it.

    Homemade ice cream

I have the old fashion ice and salt ice cream machine. It's a cheap machine that can make 6 quarts. I quickly realized now unhealthy ice cream really is and that I don't need to make 6 quarts. I've gotten all of my recipes from the book "The Perfect Scoop". It's a good book but a lot of the...

    Preferred grain mills around $200

I wanted the geared Schmidling maltmill but he was already out of business before I decided to pull the trigger. I have a $30 corona mill and it gets the job done. I'm sure some of the more expensive mills do a better job but it's not rocket science.

What BIAB brewing actually is (Mythbusting for traditionalists)

Debating 3 vessel systems vs BIAG can be like discussing politics, it ends in disappointment on both sides. I've done batch sparging , fly sparging and BIAB. I've settled on what gives me consistent result while exerting the least amount of time. I wish we could put the time and energy we...

out of curiosity, i'll ask....being that i can now....

I believe wine yeast don't work well with maltose. If your using enzyme I don't know if that would be an issue

out of curiosity, i'll ask....being that i can now....

If I'm being lazy and I don't want to worry about fermentation Temps, pitching rates, and want a fast ferment, I would use a clean kveik yeast. That could also deal with cidery flavors which are associated with high Temps and OG.

120v EBIAB systems 5 gallon batches (for apartment) - recommendations

I use to use a stove and a 1500w element. When I had to replace the microwave above my stove my Kettle didn't fit anymore and I had to relocate my Kettle and add a 2nd element to my system. I now brew on my countertop which is adjacent to my sink and water supply so I no longer have to limbo...

Just Bought Stainless Steel Table, What to Use Beneath HLT, MT and BK?

I use cork, it's a good insulator but if your messy and wort spills on it, it can end up stuck to your Kettle.
