    Got It!

    Dammit!!

So I go downstairs to grab a growler of porter, and I notice the floor is wet. So, I open my kegerator and this is what I see. 5 gallons of Bitter that I started carbonating last night, in the bottom of my kegerator, and all over my floor. Found out it was my pin lock valve on liquid post that...

    Noob Keggle Build

Ah, keg spear ball valve...not actual ball valve. I'm a genius...haha

    Noob Keggle Build

Is your ball valve stuck in a welded coupling?
  5. bellecitybrewer

The Great Angle Iron Single Tier

Yeah, I welded, ground down, and re-welded all the welds three times each, from both sides. The first welds were too cold, but the last two penetrated real nice. No insults taken, I'm always looking for input! :mug:

    Brew kettle valve location

I have a plate chiller from duda diesel. After i'm done brewing, I backflush the chiller for around 10-15 mins with near boiling water to try to get rid of any particles and then I flush it with starsan just to be safe....So far, the system has worked very well.

    Brew kettle valve location

I put mine about halfway from the bottom of the keg to the first bulge on the keg, so idk, 4-5 inches up from the bottom skirt? I built a copper dip tube and use a hop spider. I wouldn't do it any other way. With the dip tube, I leave only about 2 ounces of liquid in the keg after draining. I...

    Noob Keggle Build

Yeah, I can attest to how well angle grinder jigs work. I'd go that route...

The Great Angle Iron Single Tier

This update is gonna be kinda pic heavy, so i apologize. But here's an update on my finished keggles (minus diptubes) and my finally mounted burners. All that left now is to mount the plate chiller and pump and I'm off to the races!

    What my day consisted of...

Brewed a cascade fueled pale ale, drank some home-brewed porter, and smoked a fine cigar. I must say, today was a good day...

    Three (almost) Finished Keggles

Yeah, slowly build up your stock. I tend to buy 10-20' of that stuff at a time. Totally unnecessary... What disconnects are you going with? I love my stainless camlocks!

    Three (almost) Finished Keggles

I was back and forth on keggles vs kettles. In the end, it was the absolute tank like qualities of kegs that won me over. They're just so damn tough. You have to figure that kegs are built to be thrown around behind bars for 20 years and still be serviceable. Another thing is the fact that...

    Three (almost) Finished Keggles

I'm planning on doing a full water test tomorrow. If for some odd reason they arent water tight, the welder said he would fix them. I hope It doesn't come down to that. Lol

    Diy jockey box questions

Now, I'm no expert in this, but i do see people using cold plates also. Seeing as how the cold plates are fairly small, i can't imagine that the channels within that are even close to 25'. I'm sure you'll be fine, just keep that coil submerged in icy water!

    Three (almost) Finished Keggles

I'm not quite sure. I took them to a welder and I'm not exactly sure what he did. Its amazing how fast these brewing setups grow. This pic is from my first brew, last October. All-extract basement brew. It's only been 7 months since then, and I'm now well on my way to a single tier system...

    Maybe someday she'll be here(weldless brutus 10)

i would kill for those 10-tip burners... i had to settle for the 23-tippers. way overkill...

    First Try Alt

yeah, i was flying by the seat of my pants at northern brewer this afternoon. I kind of wished i had thought it out a little more, but we'll see. Ill brew this one, and then use some of your suggestion on another batch and compare em side by side. The suggestions sound spot on though!

And jaybird, my buddy has a false bottom of yours and I'm definitely wishing I would have bought one too. His seems alot better built than mine...dammit

    First Try Alt

I am trying to come up with an altbier for a local German homebrew competition. I figured i'd post it here for a little feedback. 6# German Pilsner 3# Dark Munich 0.5 # Crystal 120 0.1# Chocolate (for color) Mash at 149 For 60 mins 2 oz Hallertauer at 60 mins left 1 oz Hallertauer...

    Three (almost) Finished Keggles

Yes, you are correct. I am planning on picking up another march pump soon so that i can recirculate both the mash and the hlt. I made a little stainless tee with a thermometer in it just like the ones on the original brutus ten, except mine is an analgog thermometer, not digital. Thats why i...
