Important lesson cutting grass and home brew

I have lawn that's flat and smooth or as smooth as a lawn can be and way to flat. If we have a lot of rain I'm slinging water and that washes away the foam. vanman250

Important lesson cutting grass and home brew

I put some home brew in a travel coffee cup to drink while cutting my grass on my riding mower and I discovered that the vibration from the lawn mower makes home brewed beer foam wildly. I looked so cool drinking my coffee really beer until the foam came shooting out the top of my cup. vanman250

    Any old school brewing stories?

I had quite a few brewers in my family when I was younger they used those bottles from the water cooler that somehow ended up in there possession. My one uncle made the best wine from everything you can think of, he even made a great wine from frozen grape juice. He stopped making wine when he...

German Hefeweizen and I made it.

My German Hefeweizen is finally ready to drink and I was shocked when I tasted it. It tasted great. It tasted just like I remembered German Hefeweizen tasting. I never thought I could make beer that good. The others I've made were good but I never had anything to compare to since this is the...

Why was it illegal to brew in the summer in Germany?

The Industrial Revolution started to take their effect on beer at the beginning of the 19th century. Two extremely important inventions revolutionized beer brewing. The first was James Watt's steam engine and the second invention was artificial cooling by Carl von Linde. It had long been known...

Why was it illegal to brew in the summer in Germany?

I was also told this when I was in Austria but for the life of me I can't remember way it was against the law. vanman250

What turned you on to the good stuff?

I thought I was drinking good beer until I went to Austria and Germany and drank real beer. After returning to the United States I tried to drink the beers I drank before going to Europe and it all tasted awful, that sent me on a search for a good beer and I found a few that were acceptable but...

I will drink no beer before it's time

2 or more brews would be better. I think waiting for my brew to age is starting to get to me. I also have a hefeweizen aging 1 more week and it will be 6 weeks. Waiting to try the hefeweizen has been the hardest. I can't wait to see if I even came close to the ones I bought at the micro brewery...

I will drink no beer before it's time

Now that I know what a difference aging makes in my brew I'm glade to wait. Too bad the sames not true for me the more I age the worse it is and the really sad part is that the older you get the easier it is to say only 4 more weeks and I can drink that beer. When I was younger and had more time...

    First beer....too new to judge?

Wait for at least 4 weeks before tasting. I have found the 6 weeks is when it starts tasting good. Funny I just posted about my discovery in the general section. I think this is common knowledge to everybody but us newbies who can't wait to drink our first home brew. vanman250

I will drink no beer before it's time

I have tried beer after 2 weeks and after 3 weeks and so on, what I have learned is that 6 weeks is when it really starts tasting good. So I have vowed that I will not drink any beer before it's time, but will sit patently steering at the bottles drooling waiting until I can drink one. This is...

    Transporting Home Brew

Turn on your emergency flashers and drive 2 mpg in the left lane. Get a police escort. I found it transports best in my stomach, and I refill the bottles when I get there, they think I make the best Bud clone. vanman250

So I had a beer out last night...

I think Newcastle Brown Ale is pretty good beer when comparing it to the other brands they offer. Some of the places I go for business are getting a lot more then $5.75 I paid as high as $12.00. It's unbelievable that people are willing to pay that much for so little. vanman250

    Mr Beer mixes

I like the small batches but not the cost. Does someone sell the beer mixes like Mr Beer for less or larger ones that I could use half now and half later. I like the syrup mixes in the can, it's like making a can of soup only the end result is better. I looked at one of local beer stores but...

    Drank a Bud ughhhh

Dave 42 your correct about the excellent beer in the PMW I travel to Oregon about 10 times a year and the first thing I do when I arrive is stop at the hotel lounge and have a Black Beaut porter, among the great beers they have to offer that's my favorite. I did a few tours of the wineries and...

    Drank a Bud ughhhh

I have been drinking my own beer over the past few weeks and decided to open one of the store bought buds I used to enjoy. It tasted like that smell at the funeral home. I didn't think my beer was that much better but it is and I'm new at this so ether I'm great at making beer or there very bad...

question about bottling with mr. beer

I was hoping to see the answer to your question since I'm new also. I was wondering if you moved your barrel before filling your bottles and stirred things up. If not you might have bottled to early. I had just the opposite problem you had my bottles didn't get hard until after 9 days and when I...

    Flat beer

I do like the small batch's. I love beer but don't drink a lot of it. I usually by a 12 pack and have trouble drinking it before it goes bad. I'm not home a lot so that limits my home beer drinking time. I travel so I do get to try a lot of different beers, the best beer I ever had was in...
