Comments on Double Chocolate Stout Recipe?

I'd go with at least 8oz cocoa. As a modification to the Brewer's Best Russian Imperial Stout, I put 8oz chocolate at the end of the boil and 4oz of nibs in the secondary and the first thing my wife said when taking a sample after two weeks in the secondary was "no chocolate". Note that clone...

Chocolate Cherry Imperial Oatmeal Stout (first AG, critique please!)

Thanks for the replies! I probably will; I just haven't decided what yet. I'll give that mixing approach a shot; when I added mine to the boil last time, I poured it in slowly under constant stirring and most of it fell out of suspension in primary within a week. I've been reading...

Chocolate Cherry Imperial Oatmeal Stout (first AG, critique please!)

I've done two extract batches and I'll be making the leap into all-grain next month. I would like to make some adjustments to my chocolate-cherry enhancement of Brewer's Best RIS; the cherry comes across well (a bit much, in fact), but I never obtained the level of chocolate character I wanted...

How long can I use botttles for?

Overnight in PBW usually has my labels falling off in my hands or lying at the bottom of the bucket.

    Absolute disaster bottling day...

Same here; works wonders. We have two young boys and generally have a lot going on, so the kitchen tends to accumulate...character. I clean from top to bottom on brew day and again on bottling day -- she loves the new hobby.

Nope, not 170 yet, but 120+ for a PBW solution.

Cheap & Easy 10 Gallon Rubbermaid MLT Conversion

Thanks, FlyGuy, for putting together such a fantastic write-up. A few notes for anyone interested: For peace of mind I went the stainless route (300 series) and sourced my parts from Amazon, More Beer, and reputable ebay sellers. I couldn't find a FPT SS 3/8" hose barb for the life of me, so...

Still a high gravity even after a month in secondary

I'm in the same situation as you: BB RIS kit, 1085 SG, 1032 currently and sitting in the secondary with little or no apparent activity. I wanted to rack mine onto some cherries and chocolate nibs so two days ago I moved it to secondary after seven days in the primary in order to catch some...

Issues with fruit beer, cherry wheat, secondary not fermenting after adding cherries

I'm in virtually the same boat. (This is my first batch, however.) I'm working on an extract chocolate cherry stout with a 1085 SG and I was shooting for 1020 FG. When I racked into the secondary last night after a week in the primary, the gravity reading was 1032. I know I'm not supposed to...
