Black Bean chili from scratch :).

Yep and these are locally grown and vine ripened :D. I rarely if ever buy veggies from the supermarket when in season locally :).

Black Bean chili from scratch :).

Hah no I didn't grow the tomatoes they were grown on a local farm. The fact that the produce is fresh and not canned and preserved changes the flavor which is why I was pointing out it was from scratch :D. But eh, have your fun teasing me ;)... FoundlingOfDollar I'll post the recipe for you...

Black Bean chili from scratch :).

I find a lot of people used canned tomatoes/tomato sauce, canned beans, etc. :)... Most people I know don't stew/shock/puree tomatoes to start a chili ;).

Black Bean chili from scratch :).

http://www.flickr.com/photos/happyhax0r/sets/72157627504345628/ And I mean /from scratch/. :)... the box shown in the set is the box the tomatoes came in. Believe it or not that is 3.5 US gallons of chili right there ;). Freeze and thaw for later good eats :). If anyone wants the...

    Aaaaaaaaaaaand so it begins ;).

What's in my primary right now is essentially an LME/DME franken-version of the Zack and Jack's M&J African Amber clone found on HBT, but for the sake of making it easier for you to find, I will happily email you a BSM/BSMX if you have BeerSmith 1 or BeerSmith 2... and will provide the BS2...

    Warning signs of homebrew addiction

Did this the other day, and while removing the windows I broke one and a 1/2" piece of shattered glass stuck about 1/4" into the palm of my hand. SWMBO (who used to be a nurse) mentioned that I needed to hit the ER to get stitches or steri's. I washed it out, slapped 4 band-aids on it and...

He's mostly just going to be watching really.

    Aaaaaaaaaaaand so it begins ;).

Doing a Mac n' Jacks clone tonight with a friend. I promise I'll try not to let him get hooked <evil-grin>. This should be fun, I even already have bottled water on ice for wort-chilling and a space set out for the primary to sit when it's done because just like cooking; prep is everything. I...

    Hi from Canada, eh!

Yup, I agree with that wholeheartedly :). Mind you with the service I just recently got from birdmanbrewing on here, gotta say I'd be entirely willing to order from them too even though they're not Canadian. Awesome service :).

    Hi from Canada, eh!

Emjay, while I agree it's a comprehensive store the cost of shipping via Canada post is absolutely prohibitive. It would turn a $36.00 beer build into a $54.00 beer build at minimum ($19.00 minimum "express shipping"). This is why I had to source grains etc locally and have come to the...

    Hi from Canada, eh!

Holy crap :) you're only a few hours drive from me. (Fredericton), glad to see someone who's actually involved in brewing "local" to me ;). I wonder if there's not more of us on here. I don't bother putting my location details in any site, simply because I'm in computer security ;) so I'm...

    Hi from Canada, eh!

There are Noble Grape's all over the maritimes too. Just recently found out they can get me grains and stuff for AG brewing locally for very reasonable prices. If you're in eastern Canada, I highly suggest checking them out.

    Wyeast vs SafAle

Hmmm Safale K-97... I wonder if they can special order that at my LHBS. :D After all, life just wouldn't be complete without trying Cheesefood's Caramel vanilla cream ale ;). If not I might end up having to try Wyeast and do a starter. ;)

    Wyeast vs SafAle

This helps immensely. I'll read that thread, and then take a look around and come back with whatever questions I might have :). Thanks a ton Pappers! :D

    Wyeast vs SafAle

So basically anything but cooper... interesting. Is there a yeast comparison list somewhere for dry yeast ? (I far prefer dry yeast as it's not as much effort right now and I'm a n00b).

    Wyeast vs SafAle

I've been brewing all my batches (albeit I haven't done many) using SafAle S-04, and SafAle S-05. I just recently found a place locally where I can get grains and hops and other things that I need to brew beer. This includes yeast. I also have another place locally to buy yeast, but I believe...

    My first post on HomeBrewTalk

YES!! :) Woot! It's been a good day. I had the day off so I did a little research and came up with a gold mine! :D. 1.) I got a place locally (like, in my hometown locally) to buy grains, hops and brewing ingredients (called Noble Grape :)). 2.) I finally found a beer thief and learned how to...
