Gardening: My Tomatoe and Pepper Progress

The mystery pepper plant with the hairy stems has finally put off some fruit. It has white flowers so that rules out a few options. Fruit is very similar to the tepin but hangs down instead of up. Also, my 3 year old rosemary plant died suddenly. Then this fungus pops up so I figure it is...

Don't wait until secondary to add fruit puree.

That sounds fine to me, except I don’t think you need 3 weeks total. Drop the fruit in when fermentation starts to slow and it will be done a few days after that. Two weeks tops. I am definitely in favor of keeping all the fermentables in primary. You can add hops or coffee (etc) in secondary...

I let my yard beans go too long and ended up with a bunch of dry ones. I cooked them in a Chile verde sauce with sausage and they were awesome! Also let my jalapeños go so picked a whole bucket of red ones. Best poppers ever. I love the fruitiness of red jalapeños.

I had to research this and it turns out that electrical storms fuse nitrogen into nitrates, so rain from a lightning storm will have trace amounts. Never use your bird cage cleanings in your garden unless you want to grow a nice crop of millet. Add them to your compost pile instead.

This made me think of that old Mervyns commercial where they are chanting “Open open open”, except we are chanting “Ripen ripen ripen”!

Never heard of this variety before but I will be sure to look for it next year. Sounds perfect!

The inside looks pretty normal except for the hard, thick skin. The beans are growing like crazy. One day I noticed blossoms and I think 4 days later I have 2ft long beans hanging that appeared out of nowhere! Also picked 3 of my 7 cherry tomato plants today. If I ever plant this many cherry...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Same here. I just pull the basket at the end of the mash. Once it is drained I slowly pour over about 1.5 gallons of room temp water and still average around 80% efficiency.

What did I cook this weekend.....

Half the stuff in my garden are veggies I can’t get in the grocery store but wanted to try. Picked my first batch of golden beets today. Roasted the beets (air fryer) and sautéed the greens.

First crop of golden beets! Sautéed beet greens and roasted beets. I only planted a few to see how everyone liked them but I will definitely be planting more.

One of my crooked neck squash produced fantastic fruit for a few weeks but now it is producing a weird gourd-like fruit. Any ideas?
