    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

I use a Wilser bag (made for my old, fatter, kettle) inside my malt pipe. My first 2 batches on the Foundry I had stuck sparges. The dozen or so that I have done since using pipe/bag combo have sparged perfectly. It makes no sense why this works. Maybe an expert in fluid dynamics can explain...

    Keg storage

"There is more than one way to skin a cat" totally describes homebrewing. For me, the why of the process is the most important to understand. In this case, you want as little oxygen in the keg as possible. It's good to stretch yourself in a never-ending quest to improve your process but it...

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

I put a 14lb turkey in at 6:15/235F and was amazed when it was done by 9:10! I dropped the tamp down to 195F until 12:30 when it was time to go and it still turned out awesome. I'm still trying to figure out how it cooks so fast. I think part of it must be the water pan that keeps the smoker...

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Kind of OT, but we have quite a few Teslas in my area. I see about a dozen a day on my 30 minute drive. We also have a lot of really terrible drivers but I realized the other day that I have never been cut off by a Tesla. I never see them weaving in and out of traffic on the freeway. I've...

I'm confused. I thought Musk offered this patent for free from the very start... https://techcrunch.com/2016/05/26/teslas-patent-strategy-opens-the-road-to-sustainability-for-transport-and-for-itself/

Things about your co-workers that annoy you

LOL! I've spent all morning deleting replies to an email which informed us that since the banks are closed Friday, we will be getting paper checks instead of direct deposit this week.

    Battery Powered Lawn Equipment

What I like best about my battery powered eq is the lack of maintenance required. I don't have to worry about draining tanks or cleaning carbonators. I don't have to plan ahead. They are always ready to go when I need them.

    Ginger Ale (kegged)

While I liked this level of ginger, it was too 'hot' for several in my family. I dropped the ginger to 1.5lbs and it is a real crowd pleaser, and still much more ginger-y than Canada Dry/Schweppes. It also took me much more than 10 minutes to zest and juice so it steeped at about 183F for much...

    Random Picture Thread

My first brewery tour was Tioga Sequoia around 2015 and I was most surprised by their CO2 capture system. The owner/guide said that it produced far more CO2 than they needed. I'd never heard of such a thing, but it made total sense. Just in the last year I have seen 2 local taprooms with a...

What came in the mail for you today?

Definitely! Though the summer I used kveik yeast so only needed to get down to 100F. The rest of the year, I usually stall around 85F and move it to a freezer to chill the rest of the way. I have considered using a pre-chiller but that would mean severely throttling my flow unless I splurged...
