    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

I have always struggled to hold the grain out of the way, but not so far as to drip all over the place, while reading the volume markers inside. Embarrassed that the solution was this easy!

Gardening: My Tomatoe and Pepper Progress

I missed picking last week so harvested 53 artichoke!

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I’m on an orange wit kick at the moment. I brewed the first one with Lallemand Classic Munich (because it was what I had on hand), yesterday I kegged the same recipe with Lallemand Belgian Wit yeast and today I’ll brew the same recipe with Safale S-33.

    The Home Made Pizza Thread

So my daughter just started working at a new pizza place. Tonight was their soft opening. They called her in at 1pm and mixed up a big batch of dough then showed her how to work it. By the time I got there at 5pm, she was turning out pretty good looking pizzas but about 7:30 she said the dough...

    Culture Pop probiotic soda

Well, I made a test batch on Saturday with just juice and water (no probiotics), force-carbed at 35 PSI, and my wife was happy with the flavor. It's been over 100F for a month now and this is a very refreshing drink. I still haven't decided what to do, if anything, with the probiotic though...

    Culture Pop probiotic soda

Frankly, I'll be happy with enough 'probiotic flavor' so my wife will take one of my Grolsch bottles to work every day instead of buying more $1.88 cans. :p

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

The family was gone for the day so I got to brew in peace. I collected 6 gallons of water the night before because it takes a while to run through my filter. I started heating the water at 8am (110v) and quickly got in the zone. I was kind of shocked when I checked the time after cleaning and...

    Culture Pop probiotic soda

I have been thinking about recreating something similar. They are 18% juice with no added sweeteners and bacillus subtilis. My wife keeps buying them at $1.88 each so I really want to create a cheaper alternative! I was thinking about bringing 2 gallons of water and 64oz of juice to a boil...

    Fermentation chamber heating?

I use a 10x20 but if I was buying now, I would probably go with this 20x20 since it is only $2 more.

    Gardening: Raised Beds for veggies

We have a second hand building supply store that I think will have cheap plexiglass. I would have preferred old windows but the structure has a little bit of movement so I think it needs something with more give. I suppose I could use windows on the roof, which shouldn't flex at all, but then...

    Gardening: Raised Beds for veggies

I have a swing set (similar to below) that my kids have outgrown. I've already started using the 'swing' section to grow beans and cucumbers. I think I would like to enclose the 'fort' portion in plexiglass and make a little greenhouse.

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

I tried my first big beer in the Foundry and ended up a bit disappointed and puzzled. With 15 lbs of grain, BeerSmith estimated an OG of 1.085. My first runnings were 1.087, which I knew was a little low, but not terrible. I drained and collected 4.4 gallons so I poured another gallon over...

Gardening: My Tomatoe and Pepper Progress

One thing I have noticed about having my garden on drip this year is that it makes it a whole lot easier to neglect. My wife said we were having tacos last night so I went out to get salsa makings and realized that I haven't harvested in a week as there was an abundance of red on all my pepper...

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

I think this is a faulty assumption. The EV owners that I know spread across the whole spectrum and an article on CNN shows that's not just anecdotal.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

I saw my first Mustang EV in the wild on the drive to work this morning! I've yet to see a Faraday on the road, despite being 19 miles from their factory...

    Random Picture Thread

I couldn't afford to be an early-adopter at that point but when I graduated from college I used $3399 left over from student loans to buy a top-of-the-line Quantex with a 40 MB hdd and a Pentium processor!

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

I usually use my waste water in the garden but that sounds like it might drastically cut down on mineralization!
