    Calling All Metal Fans

Altough, Danava was completely excellent! I heard that they'll come back here later on in the spring, and I highly recommend you guys to go see them if they play somewhere nearby you.

20 lb of sugar and a jar of yeast nutrient

I made a 4 lb batch today, two lessons learned: 1) It stayed at 230 for a while(15 mins or so), so I got tired and cranked my stove up from 5/9 to ~8/9. The temperature, very, slowly started climbing upwards but once it hit somewhere around 245-260 or so it rushed up. I don't really have any...

    Calling All Metal Fans

Just found out that Pentagram will do a show here december 5th :rockin: I had originally planned to go see YOB, Kongh and Dark Castle tonight but then I found out that Danava (hadn't heard of them before) also played tonight and got recommended to check them out. So now I'm gonna go see...

    Punk Rock and Hardcore

To get some discussion going, how open are you guys to new bands? Personally I tend to feel "done" with a genre after a while and stop looking for new bands. About one and a half - two years ago I'd go to as many concerts of "relevant" styles but these days I only go if there's a band, I know...

    Punk Rock and Hardcore

I was gonna write about something completely different, but instead I'll just post some more or less raw swedish ****. Lyrics: A patched german shepherd that barely can stand, you f***** w**** how will it end? Can you bring your crust dog to heaven? Can you bring the crust dog when you die...

    Wyeast 3711 French Saison

I don't have any further questions or comments, I'd just like to say that I appreciate the input. I've been thinking of getting one or both of those books (although malt, hops and yeast have a higher priority) since my beer interest has turned to that kind of brews lately.

    Wyeast 3711 French Saison

Since you bottled with souring microbes that pretty much whats expected? In my case i hopped with 0.44 oz(damn units...) of Pacific Jade at 30, 25, 20 and 15 minutes left for an IBU(Tinseth) of 42,7, malt bill was simple with equal parts of pilsner, pale ale and vienna malt. I more or...

    Wyeast 3711 French Saison

I pitched a smackpack into 6g with OG 1.055, ~77 ambient temperature and nothing to keep fermentation temperature down. For two days it was bubbling like crazy in the airlock and after that it stopped completely and the krauzen had dropped. I bottled after 14 days and the gravity was stable at...

    Only brett contaminates the wood?

It had been drying for a couple weeks now, anyway I was looking around here for pointers on how to toast it but in the end I decided not to. 1. Some thread pointed out that toxic wood isn't a good idea to use, so I looked up juniper and found that some parts were toxic due to thujone (flanders...

Pre Boil Gravity Same as Post Boil Gravity

Only one reason I can think of, you didn't top it off back to 6.5 gallons did you?

    So who's brewing this weekend?

The syrup making was interesting, and the brew itself turned more or less into a tripel. I'm a bit scared of it blowing the bucket so I made a pre-emptive strike and just put the lid on top without "clicking it".

Best place to store a Sour

I'm gonna pinch in with a related question here, is it preferable to add dregs for primary or wait until secondary? edit: With a blend (roselare) from start.

    Only brett contaminates the wood?

Well, actually i want it to get infested to be used in later brews. I was just wondering what I could expect to get in there. I'm not sure how much juniper flavor there will be in the end product, it smelled rather junipery when i peeled away the bark but it doesn't smell anything right now...

    Calling All Metal Fans

Yeah, altough not that record, only power games and S/t. I checked them and Heavy Load at the same time, the latter was more to my taste.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewed a Saison today, and tomorrow a Belgian with homemade "syrup". It's gonna be interesting to see how much color the syrup will add.
