Should I put ingredients in the fridge?

Once it's been opened, stash it in the fridge and forget about it. LME lasts forever! **damn near** Yeasts go night night in the fridge, and hops stay delightful in the freezer. :) That's what I stick too. I bought a 5 gal bucket from Home Depot and I store my grain in it, with a lid of course...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

If you make it, I suggest trying it as is first. You might like it! I thought I was going to have to sweeten it too, but I LOVE it the way it is. As i've said before... it's kind of reminiscent of a green apple jolly rancher. I wanted my sparkly too, but upon leaving it I've discovered that a...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I'm not scared of the yeast cake either....just wondering for the sake of freeing up my fermentor. Dwelling on wether sitting on the cake for an extended period of time adds anything, or will it age just as well in bottles on a shelf?

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Mine has been in Primary for a month, but I think I am going to move it bottles and let it condition for it's remaining months there. Has anyone noticed a discernible difference between bottle aging and aging over the yeast cake in primary?

    Condition.... bottles or kegs?

This is the thread with directions on keg bottling at practically no expense :) https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f35/we-no-need-no-stinking-beer-gun-24678/ I didn't cut my racking cane at an angle, and as long as I keep the end submerged everythings fine! I strongly urge you to check out that...

    worst beer you ever made

My second brew ever was absolutely disgusting! It was my first attempt at a partial, everything seemed to go well enough during the process, but the end result was an extraordinarily bitter, watery mess. The hop additions should have produced a 21IBU brew, but it tasted like I was drinking...

    Condition.... bottles or kegs?

Nope.... C02 is absorbed better at colder temps. PLUS the only reason bottle carbing is done at 70 is because the yeast are still actively "fermenting" the added sugar that is needed to carbonate. When using kegs, you are forcing C02 into the solution from a tank of compressed gas. No need for...

    Will this pot work?

I bought that same tamale steamer and then I went back and bought the 40qt. It will do you just fine! :)

    Still Krausen after 1 week?

It's fine.... RDWHAHB :) Let it do its thing and check it with Hydrometer readings. I don't even bother going near my fermentors for the first 2-3 weeks, then I start taking hydro readings.

    Bass IPA bottles...

Yeah... I've pretty much set them aside and given them the stink eye :(

    Bass IPA bottles...

Has anyone encountered a problem reusing Bass IPA to bottle homebrew? I thought they were the same size as all my other bottles, but it seems like the caps sit kind of crooked once you crimp them down. :\ Thank goodness I have reserves of other types... I'm concerned about the bass bottles...

To each his own but fruit doesn't belong in beer

I drink what I brew, and I brew what I want. Fruit or no fruit. :) I prefer a nice malty Irish Red, but every now and then I'll throw a bag of oranges into my wit or some extract into a couple of the bottles.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I'm sure someone will bite my head off for saying it this way....but If there is ANYTHING other than Apple Juice, and or Water, and or Ascorbic Acid. Don't use it. This stuff seems to be ok :)

    Man, I love Apfelwein

The stuff I bought said... Hansen's All Natural 100% apple juice from concentrate. The ingredients were... Water, and apple juice concentrate. The only acceptable additive is Ascorbic Acid, which is a form of Vitamin C. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. :) I'm rushing out the door as I type this.

What stinks when burned on a light bulb?

lol... I'd have to agree with her... All girls colleges and dorms are some crazy places! If you know a girl who went to an all girls anything, and she says she thinks lesbians are gross... she's lying to cover something up lmao! As for my "girls only" college escapades... those are better...

What stinks when burned on a light bulb?

:) Having lived in a all girls dorm for the duration of college. We played plenty of pranks on the boys, and on our roommates when someone snuck a boy in and we didn't want to hear "the do" all night :) SO here's what I have applied to light bulbs with the purpose of making a mess or stinking up...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I'd like to get something in the fermentor. Maybe a cream ale, or an Irish Red. But I also need to get my Witbier into the keg, bottle some Golden Ale, and put finishing touches on the Kegerator. Hubby is supposed to get the wood to make the bottom flat. PLUS through all the chaos of moving we...

New Poster, 5th or so brewing, DUMB Mistake..or was it?

BTW...Hop pellets don't actually dissolve, they just break up into a green mush. I brew All Grain and I put my pellets into a tea bag and let them go in the boil. :) I've "mash hopped" once. It was nice, but a bit too bitter for me. Everything will be A.OK :) Enjoy the hobby!
