Holy Crap! Tried year old Apfewein today and I almost died it was so good! A buddy sent it to me, it was carbed and unsweetened. I drank 2 bottles and it was a mistake. I had the worst midday hangover lol. BUT YUMMY!

I keep mine in 5 gal Home Depot buckets lined with a trash bag and a lid. Keeps well and hasn't gone stale. Don't pitch... use it up, you'll be alright. :)

Hydrometer for sure! Reasonable and consistent readings should put your mind at ease. Mind you I said.... Reasonable. It's cider... if it's bobbing around at 1.040 or something absurd like that, even for 3 days, then you might have yeast or juice issues.

I ferment in buckets and carboys and I've noticed when ever I get a NEW bucket, I have to wash it a couple times in scalding hot water to get rid of that new plastic smell. Even my vinyl tubing gets washed all OCD like before use because it smells like plastic too.

A few months ago I posted on here about bottles and I was able to get 300 Sam Adams, and Sierra Nevada Bottles. **I love those stubbies** Congrats though.... just about anything free is nice!

7 for me! I like my 5 gal batches... It allows me to switch it up more often and have a great variety available all the time!
