    Question about Extract/AG Grain Bill

So, if I put these numbers into Beersmith, it'll calculate total sparge water as well, correct?

    Sierra Nevada Porter AG Clone

I am looking to brew the AG SN Porter Clone recipe for the holidays. My question is besides the 2-Row Pale Malt, what are the other speciality grains? I am assuming it is the 80 L Crystal Malt, US Chocolate Malt and US Black Malt, but I just wanted to double check. I have attached a photo of...

@Schol-R-LEA, I just need to grind some coffee right,as stated in the recipe above, not brew 4 oz? Probably a stupid question, but just checking.

I would most definitely order crushed. Luckily, in my AG experiences, this is something I remember.

    Question about Extract/AG Grain Bill

@BlackGoat. So when I added the 13.2 lbs of 2-Row and the other ingredients, do I need to take their volume into consideration and add more than 3.75 gallons of mash water, as stated above?

    Question about Extract/AG Grain Bill

I have pasted a copy of the Founders Breakfast Stout Recipe below. This is a newbie question, but I am new to AG brewing. I've only done about 6-7 batches specifically only using pre-made kits from Northern Brewer. The AG recipe says All-grain option: This is a single step infusion mash...

Missing Target Post Boil Volume and OG

Yep, the wort was cool. I added a little bit of water and got the OG to 1.064. I was just bummed about my volume total. Do you think it could have been because I did not use all my sparge water?

Missing Target Post Boil Volume and OG

I took my SG right before boiling to add the hop additions.

Missing Target Post Boil Volume and OG

Hi, I just brewed an ALL GRAIN "Dead Ringer" IPA recipe from Northern Brewer. Here's the recipe. http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/dead-ringer-ipa-all-grain-kit.html So my pre-boil volume was 6.5 gallons. My post boil volume was 5.25 gallons. (That's my normal burn off) When racking to...

Adding DME is Target Gravity is off

Thanks! This is starting to make total sense. Is this the "go-to" formula to use each time, changing of course depending on starting volume, OG of recipe, etc?

Adding DME is Target Gravity is off

Hi @Fishin-Jay, Ok, so I will do a boil of 60 minutes. I know, based on past brews, that I will burn off about 1 gallon (give or take a little). My pre-boil volume will be 6.5 gallons. What would be my formula for that? Seriously, thanks for your help.

Adding DME is Target Gravity is off

Hi, I have a few questions that I am hoping the wonderful folks on here can help me with. My first question is: When brewing an AG batch, when should I take my first gravity reading? I just bought a refractometer. When I take my first gravity reading, is there a specific formula I can...

    Please Help: Using a Refractometer

Hey, I just purchased my first refractometer and was wondering when I should be using this in the brew process. I understand that I could use it to take my OG, but at what other times should I be using it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Jimmy
