    can i dry hop...

I am assuming that the carbonation should stay in suspension while the container is open and then once returned to pressure should be okay. So overnight hops should work, eh?

    can i dry hop...

I'm taking a keg of beer to a friends birthday tomorrow. I tasted and it lacks much flavor. I have various hops in my freezer. WOuld it make any sense to attempt to dry hop the keg in 20 hours? thanks

    Fermentation question from noob

So I brewed a weak version of a belgian strong ale. I used 6.25 lbs Pilsen DME 1 lb of cane sugar .5 lbs caramel malt 60L .5oz Coulmbus @60 2oz Czech Saaz@60 Pitched a 3 liter starter made with wyeast 1388. The first three to four days the air lock was going crazy. Actually within the...

    is my starter still ok?

I made a 3 qt. starter this afternoon and I am worried by its appearance. I added the Light DME right away before it came to a boil. When I poured it into my vessel it was very dark. Almost New Castle color. I dumped the yeast(wyeast 1388) in anyway. I am assuming I scorched the DME but does...

    ? about krausen

I was already drinking a homebrew I guess I just need to relax, eh?

    ? about krausen

That is kinda my thought. I wonder if a second krausen could form if the yeast are really still active?

    ? about krausen

So I am brewing a saison and I just moved it from the basement to the upstairs closet because it is a few, maybe 4-6, degrees warmer. In transportation the krausen fell. Since I normally brew in buckets I don't see the behavior of the krausen. I am brewing in a 5 gallon glass carboy, I shattered...

    quick question on carbonation

I brewed a Paterbeirs kit from NB which calls for a volume of 3 for the CO2. I found a spreadsheet on here showing what pressure to set the keg at. So I set the keg for 18psi and it is 39-40 in my freezer and its been a week. I am having a get together tomorrow and want to serve homebrew. Would...

    a couple of stupid ?s

I am looking to start kegging and have a few simple questions. If I was to buy both pin lock and ball lock kegs can I switch out the connector from the lines back and forth? Or do I just have to pick a style and go with it? Is it in my best interest to buy a dual body regulator if I am...

    Wisconsin's pending legislation affects breweries

For the record the "liberal" Milwaukee Journal endorsed Scott Walker for Governor.

    Need advice.

So I was planning on brewing NB's Jamil's Evil Twin today. Unfortunately last night before bed I realized I never made a starter. (OG is 1.062) Going to my LHBS to buy another wyeast packet is out of the question today. So do I make the starter today and put off brewing a few days? Do I just...

    Holding onto beer

My wife and I have brewed 7 extract kits none of them were above 1.060. We have been drinking a case and storing a case in the basement. My question is whether or not this is a good practice? I know that bigger beers can sit for a long time but do smaller beer benefit or not from sitting? thanks

    Smaller batch

Anybody use a 5 gallon carboy as a primary. I have a 6.5 primary and a 5 gallon secondary. After reading this forum for a few months I decided to just leave in the primary for three weeks and skip the secondary. So now I have a empty vessel just sitting there. I want to use the 5 gallon as an...

    uneven priming sugar distribution?

I forgot to mix the priming sugar and my beer in the bottling bucket. This may be my first experience with bottle bombs. Hope not. We'll see.

    Low OG

Last night my wife and I brewed NB AK-47 Pale Mild, we are trying to find a good beer to bring to a gathering of Miller Drinkers which won't scare them away. We brewed and have since bottled the first experimental weaker beer which was the NB Cream ALe. For some reason both of them had some...

    ? On bottle conditioning

I brewed the beer 1/2/11 and bottled on 1/30/11. I have a few bottles that I haven't chilled, that are sitting in my guest bedroom which I can compare. I'll leave them at room temperature for a few weeks more. Would it generally be better to leave my beer at room temperature for a longer...

    ? On bottle conditioning

I just got done drinking a bottle of my first brew, a NB Witbier. I bottle conditioned for about 3 weeks and then put it in the fridge for about a week and I put a case in the basement which can't be warmer than 50 degrees due to being in WI. I just opened one and I seem to smell the green...
