Only a "little sour" Sour Beers

This is my first attempt with using Philly sour I finally have krasuen yay! But I have to very much disagree with just spiking beer with lactic acid I don’t know how the philly sour will turn out but if I don’t like it I’ll just continue to kettle sour. Spiking with lactic acid in my opinion is...

Only a "little sour" Sour Beers

If you pitch the blood orange at the same time the yeast will eat up most of the flavor. I’m currently considering giving up on mine it’s 2 days in there’s no activity for a gravity reading it didn’t move so if nothing by tomorrow morning I’m pitching 05 and it’s just going to be a fruited wheat...

Only a "little sour" Sour Beers

Unfortunately me thinking I had activity was misguided it bubbles slowly yesterday I checked today and absolutely nothing so I added some yeast nutrient. I’ve never had this happen before with other yeasts.

Any Lallemand Philly Sour feedback or experience to share?

Pitched it at 72 but since it didn’t get going once I got home from work it was down to 68 so now there is a heat wrap on it taking it up to 75. I pitched around 5pm last night 2 packs dry into 5.25gallo s 1.07 wort.

I pitched this yeast yesterday and I looks like there is zero activity. Anybody have experience with wait times for this one?

    Using Oreos

You would have to expect the beer would not hold its head retention when adding things with fats you know your giving that up. Did you sample before the oreos how was it then? I actually plan on trying an Oreo stout one day myself and I just don’t like extracts I’ve only had bad experiences with...

Only a "little sour" Sour Beers

I know I was just wondering if anyone tried it where they can’t keep it that warm for the entire time it’s fine during the first few days but then it’s just not going to stay I recently did a saison under these conditions and that seemed to come out fine

Only a "little sour" Sour Beers

Does the philly sour yeast have to fermenr warm? I have temp control to chill but not heat. So in my basement right now once stuff is done bubbling away it drops to around 65.

    Spiedel or SS Brewbucket?

I personally would go with which ever is cheaper unless your looking to upgrade to the point where you can dump trub but the. You have to go beyond these two options. I have two plastics a anvil stainless bucket and and a ss brewtech unitank I don’t see a difference in end product with any of them.

Only a "little sour" Sour Beers

I used omega lacto for my latest gose it came out really good. I have tried many different ways I also had a fail using good belly shots nothing happened so I ended up going super old school and putting grain in Muslin bag which worked fine but isn’t super predictable. I really don’t think you...

    Omega Lutra yeast?

Anything that exposes the beer to air will lead to some level of oxidation. It’s the same as when dropping dry hops in when all you can do is open the fermenter and drop them in.

    Omega C2C American Farmhouse

Trying to revive this thread. I used this yeast not exactly what I was going for taste more Belgian blonde than saison that I was going for. I was planning on adding cucumbers, melon and thyme. Anybody ever add fruits or adjuncts to a beer with this yeast and have good results? I’m a little...

    Buying Grain on Amazon

The only time I looked on Amazon is when I realized I didn’t have something and needed it quick and the prices were ridiculous like 10 bucks for a 1lb of Vienna. I really like northern brewer for bulk orders my closest home brew shop is 45 minutes away so I go there occasionally. Also for hops...

    Worst beer I've ever had...

Evil twin brewing made a watermelon beer that tastes exactly like pickle juice. And magnify brewing just made a beer called egg hunt that was sour with vanilla ice cream both were 🤮. However they both make very good off the wall flavored beers these ones just didn’t work out for me.

    CFC troubles

Do you ever have issues with flow. Ever since I switched to my 3 vessel system air getting trapped in the lines and setting up bleeder valves everywhere has been a real pain. I have the most trouble when going to use the CFC.
