My favorite neipa that I have made is galaxy and cashmere there is a distinct fruity smell as soon as it gets to your face. I also mad a sour ipa with all galaxy hops no boil all whirlpool and dry hop it almost taste like fruited it. Safe to say I love galaxy hops but I also really love citra...

    Pumpkin ale

I like my pumpkin ale to be more pie tasting and I really nailed mine last year. For a 5 gallon brew I used 5 pounds of pumpkin in the mash about 16 ibus of noble hops at 60min base grain was MO then I think I had about 8% of each Munich 10 and biscuit and added maple syrup and pumpkin pie spice...

    Starting a brewery

This is something I have looked into quite a bit. The cost of start up is astronomical and finding a location is also extremely difficult. The location has been a huge obstacle so far. Your equipment filled will be extremely heavy so you can not have a basement and will need to rip up the floor...

    IPA Hop Additions

It’s all about the IBUs I really prefer the New England style but unless making a beer for someone else I always keep my IBUs around 40 or below and almost all of my hope are late/whirlpool for their flavor.

    Your Favorite Liquid Yeast Brand?

I don’t use liquid yeast all the time only for specific brews. I love the wide range of yeasts omega has but I picked imperial because I really like their larger yeast count 100 billion cells is like nothing you absolutely have to make a starter every time.

    Feeling defeated

I think it’s because you make what you like. I now like my IPAs better than anyone’s because I prefer very low hop bitterness a little malt sweetness and fruity hops but that’s not your typical IPA.

    Infected saison

Thanks kegging or bottling if it continues to taste good was my primary concern. I love sours so as long as it’s safe it’s okay with me. Would you do a standard priming sugar for carbonating in bottles? It’s been a long time.

    Infected saison

The hop bag was thoroughly drenched in star San prior to dropping it in.

    Infected saison

It’s worked in the past with fruit so that’s why I thought I’d be okay. But if I keg it will that keg and line be comprised.

    Infected saison

So it appears I have my first ever infected brew. This is a saison brewed with mangrove jack French saison yeast the look of the infection did not start until I added dry hops and dried dandelion which i froze for over 24hrs to kill the bugs but I must assume that did not work. I’m curious on...

Is their any Homebrew stores that don't charge arm and leg for shipping?

I like northern brewer as long as you spend 50 bucks it’s free shipping and that’s easy to do.

Only a "little sour" Sour Beers

I think it’s totally fine you just don’t know what to expect the first time ordering something.

Only a "little sour" Sour Beers

The beer takes on color really easily it’s all a matter of taste and some trial and error the purées are going to give flavor easier since it’s crushed. For my gose beers I use whole fruit and go for a touch of flavor for my smoothie sours i actually blend up roughly ten pounds of frozen fruit...

Only a "little sour" Sour Beers

Adding fruit to beer really isn’t hard you just need a lot to get the flavor. Wait until very close to the end of fermentation or until it’s over and use no less than 1 pound per gallon if your want real fruit flavor. I just dump frozen fruit right in and it works like a charm. I’ve also bought...

Is there a list of big krausen yeasts that tend to require blow off tube?

Imperial juice yeast is super similar to wyeast London ale but I really like imperial because they advertise 200B cells. The first time I used it I pitched a little warm at 70 and with in 5 hours the air lock was so bonkers I put a blow off tub on. I used it two more times and pitched a little...

    Ordering liquid yeast

Hey guys I was just wondering how everyone feels about ordering yeast online now that it’s warm out. I love Imperial juice yeast for my NEIPAs but it’s in the 80s now so I’m a little worried it will get ruined. I usually order from northern brewer. My local home brew shop carries it but they...

Any Lallemand Philly Sour feedback or experience to share?

I’m 8 days in and it does not taste sour at all. The ph meter did read 3.8 but I really don’t taste and sour where as I have a kettle sour going and it’s been 48 hours and tasting good. I don’t know if I will try philly sour again. I really dumb mistake I did do though was have the wrong...
