Questions on beer gas (Nitrogen/CO2 mix) in a new keg

^This is why I had to leave Lincoln, NE. I just couldn't stand the pressure! 😜

Anyone else overwelmed by the amount of hops in IPAs and NEIPAs?

I love well made IPAs. As a style example, the DFH 90' is superb, and is near the upper end of the "hoppy" level as I care to to drink, but I do love it. I do appreciate the difference in bitterness/hoppiness and how a NEIPA is completely different than a DIPA, but need to explore the high dry...

Anyone else overwelmed by the amount of hops in IPAs and NEIPAs?

Looks great, but I had to go and get a stent after looking at that...

CO2 Tank Stand Plans or Source

Thanks! This is great, as I was looking for a safe and cheaper alternative than buying or borrowing a router. Coincidentally, while awaiting your reply, I stumbled across the below video, which presents a master class in how to use this tool to achieve outstanding professional results. All I...

CO2 Tank Stand Plans or Source

This happens to be EXACTLY what I was looking for, and once again day_trippr came through! Now, I am NOT an experienced woodworker, although I do have a drill press. What kind of "fly cutters" can cut the large diameter holes which would be needed for 5, 10 and 20# tanks, and who carries these...

    Fermenting with CF10 + sightglass

So then, is the common practice of "burping" CO2 up through the yeast bed to mix it up with the wort while fermenting a bad idea? I haven't tried that, but have been considering it.

    keg shank dilemma

Good to know, thanks. I'm facing this exact same issue on my second keezer. We'll see how these wheels deal with SS. Did you then have to also ground down the remaining "nub", or could you cut it close enough to mitigate that need?

    Storing bulk grains

Any suggestions for storing specialty grains (3-10#)? Some of these will sit on my shelf a longer than base grains.

    DUOTIGHT LEAKS......

Yes, you are 100% correct that typical "bare" MFL/FFL connections (not "tipped" QDs) require nylon washers. But Williams does say to use teflon tape. I think I will try the nylon washer first (which should be the proper design), and if that fails, then try some teflon tape.

    DUOTIGHT LEAKS......

Coincidentally, I see today (in another, related thread) that it is now being suggested to use teflon tape on the Duotight's ffl connections to SS mfl threads, such as on the MFL outlet of a regulator or distributor (but not needed for plastic-tipped keg QD connectors). I had always thought...

    DUOTIGHT LEAKS......

I've had a few problems with the FFL ends leaking on my gas headers and regulators. I hand tighten, then give it a quarter turn, and ... leak. Tighten slightly, and ... leak. Repeat until overtightened. I've swapped out the MFL adapters, to varying degrees of success - or lack thereof...

Spike CF10 - closed transfer without pressure?

Sorry, not a best, or even ok, practice when working with what is effectively a pressure vessel. You don't know what type of tubing he has. Many a sad story includes the phrase "well, that never happened before...".

    How to sanitize a Stone

Sanitize line. Bake stone for 30+ (sometimes longer if I'm busy with other stuff) at 400F. No problems.

NEIPA Brewers - Keg degredation time

I've gotten a little anal in my O2 mgt practices of late, and have routinely disconnected lines if a keg is not going to be used for a couple days or more, and then purge before reconnecting (I'm guessing you could probably go a week without a whole lot of difference in most beers). If you're...

Talking with a friend... distilling beer?

I'm definitely an Islay/peaty fan, although I have a huge collection of all types of SMWs. I remember taking my first dram of Auchentoshan many years ago and thinking to myself, wth is this? Light with grassy notes. Ugh! Well, I did need to finish this bottle eventually, since I could NEVER...

    Drilling Stainless Steel Fermenter

Hmmm... that's NOT a "different experience" for me, more like SOP! 🤪

    Bottling

You/he might want to think again about the canning option. I really get the "wow" factor of presenting some canned beer; it's def a couple steps of cool above bottling to show off and can be very professional looking, and that's worth something to many (me included, I'll admit). But for me...

    New 240v drop being installed

Some folks also run 2 elements in a kettle to save time (which would need 50A), but I find plenty to do on brew day (e.g. sanitize the rest of the system and fermenter) and am never in that big of a hurry to heat up a pot.

    New 240v drop being installed

50A is for (more) serious brewers, and I would offer a guess that no more than 10% of e-brewers would ever make that leap, but who knows you may be one of those (I for sure will never go there; 1 brew at a time keeps me as busy and full of beer as I will ever need). BUT, Bobby's comment on add'l...
