The OG was 1.069, and it hasn't budged. My concern stems from the fact that all my beers generally take off within the first 24hrs. I have never had a batch take longer when using a yeast starter.
I'll sit on it a few more days.
I'm slowly starting to assemble everything I need for all-grain brewing. In the meantime, I ordered a bunch of extract kits from Northern Brewer to keep me busy and provide me with some Christmas beer. One of these was their Winter Warmer with Wyeast 1728 Scottish Ale yeast. This was started...
I did infuse some orange in this recipe. Instead of doing peel, I put two peeled oranges in some cheesecloth and steeped it in the boil. Never done that, but have seen it done with great results before.
Well, I finally tapped the keg. Perhaps it was the splashing, maybe it was the recipe, but either way I have my first bad batch. Pure aweful beer. My wife said she couldn't even describe how bad it was. It smells good though, just tastes bad.
Cool beans. I was trying to convince myself that there wouldn't be an issue. Being that I'm tapping these kegs for a party after exactly three weeks of priming, well, that's just not the time for my first bad batch.
So I've brewed about ten batches and have never had a bad batch. I recently started kegging and had something happen the other night that concerns me.
I've heard that if you splash the beer going into secondary or a bottling bucket, that you'll get the wet cardboard taste to the beer. Never...
I've got a TDD-2 that I'm trying to "pimp" right now. I have the standard two holes on a roughly 13" center. I'm looking for an 8 tap draft tower, U style, stainless or chrome, air cooled. Any condition will do.
I would also consider a 6 tap tower if it had the same distance between the...
Yeah, I wouldn't be opposed to that, but the stainless steel top is one of the things that SWMBO likes about it. Plus, by the time I redo the top, I've not saved any money.
Update: I sank $200 into the unit to get it up and running to my standards. I put a service valve on the front for easy maintenance and had it charged with R-134A. She runs like a champ now.
I can fit 8 5gal kegs in there, so now I'm looking for a better tap setup. I would like to run 8 taps...
My concern was initially that filling through the valve would splash the beer too much. But, if it is working for you, then I have a coupler that needs a new seal. Sounds like a good candidate to pull the check valve.
