Sanitizing your gear the night before

It’ll be fine. I do it all the time including right now.

    Yes...this just happened.

Those dents are going to ruin your beer! Don’t use them!! Instead, you should send them to me.

    A big score of equipment

Nicely done. Why was pbw unusable?

    Economy recirculating wart pump recommendations.

You don’t need a pump. But, it’s one of those things when you add it, you’ll wonder why you waited so long. Lots of other things to implement before a pump. As mentioned above, I added one to move hot water to hlt. I have a gravity system. Kind of dangerous to lift near boiling water that high...

    Maybe accidentally Forgot to boil

Sorry, but I’m guessing it hasn’t been boiled. It could be that the brewery is making a high gravity beer, and what you picked up are second runnings that if they hadn’t given away, would have gone down the drain. That’s my guess. And I would do option 1.

    just threw togther something weird...

+1 !!! For the caution. Hot water is one thing, boiling water is another. Lots of carboy horror stories on the web. They’re not Pyrex. Be careful. I would haul it around with a milk crate, or at least a brew hauler.

Setting up my Brew Cave. New guy doesn't have a clue!!!

You’re starting pretty much like I did. One thing that I was missing in the beginning and is relatively cheap is a good thermometer. The one that came with my turkey fryer was not too accurate. A digital one is about $15. Also get a stick on thermometer for your fermenter. That’ll be around $5.

    Fermentation Sluggish

68 is a good temp for that yeast. Maybe even a little warm to start. Because it hasn’t started yet, I wouldn’t cool it, and I wouldn’t warm it either. I think you just need to wait a bit. Can you add more details, like recipe, did you make a starter, how big, and did you aerate the wort? You...

    making yeast starters

I step it up after 24 hours to kind of keep things a steady growth. I have no evidence to back this up, just kind of what I thought. When I first started making starters, I was making them too small. I was listening to podcasts, I thought the stepping up method was how they were describing to do...

    making yeast starters

Say I’m brewing Sunday. Friday night I’ll make 1 liter of starter wort. Leave on counter with yeast packet somewhere close. Not right next to the hot wort, but close. Saturday am, wort is at room temp along with yeast. Pitch yeast, leave on stir plate. Saturday night, I make another 1 liter...

Bee comitted suicide in my boiling wort

We’ve all had it happen. There’s that initial oh $&@t. But then it’s fun to add something to the name of the beer. Glad you resisted the urge to dump it.

    Corny keg help!

I also think a longer beer hose will help in the long run. I am no expert, but mine are at 10 feet. I used to have them at 6 feet.

    Beer won't carbonate in keg

So I brewed a vanilla porter, and it is not carbonating either. Both my pale ale, and this beer are on a new tank of gas, and I'm starting to think I was sold nitro. I usually go in and just ask for CO2. This time, he brought the tank, and I specified I needed it for beer. He took that tank and...

Stout Tanks and Kettles 7.3G Conical Fermenter Giveaway!

Me too[emoji22] Nice box. What’s in it?[emoji57] why are you posting and not filling that thing up? I hope you enjoy it. That was a good score. Congratulations!!

Need cheap ideas for O2 free transfer

You could get 2 3 gallon kegs, increase batch size by 1 gallon. Add priming sugar to kegs and naturally carbonate. Get a small co2 cartridge setup and a picnic/ cobra tap and it should fit in your fridge. You won’t regret any of those purchases. Smaller kegs are not as good of bargain, but split...

    Tripel w/ 1.002 FG ruined?

If you keg, I️ would leave it in the keg rather than the fermenter. Edit: not sure why these question marks won’t go away in my post.

    Beer won't carbonate in keg

A long time ago I struggled with leaky kegs. It’s left me a bit paranoid. I’ve found that keg lube has helped solve that problem for me. I line the gaskets, blast it at 30psi, then blast again about 12 hours later and check for leaks. Then after about another 12 hours I will set gas to 10psi and...
