    What's up with your name?

I started using it as my xbox gamertag and it's stuck ever since. My initials are DW which is where DDub comes from and duder was something my friend blurted out while I was making the name and it was funny so I used it.

    brew clubs in tampa florida

In Brandon I believe there is Bootleggers which meets at Booth's Brewing. In Tampa you have a couple, there is the Tampa Bay Beers or Special Hopperations.

Show us your sculpture or brew rig

Love the fermentor setup, what do you use to control the temp for it? I'm assuming you have coils in the top with water or glycol.

    Mario Keezer

Quite possibly the coolest thing I've seen in a while, I love it. Can't wait to see how you progress with the project.

What are some of the mistakes you made...where your beer still turned out great!

Took off the camlock from by boil kettle to switch pump directions and forgot to close the valve...a liter or two of first runnings went all over my garage floor. Oops

Oskar Blues Old Chub clone from BYO

It's a very simple recipe from a time stance. 60 mins mash at 155, 90 min boil and 30 mins into the boil (the 60 min mark) add your only hop addition. I have this aging now and it keeps getting better the older it gets. You won't be disappointed.

    Florida Hops experiment

My Galina is ready to harvest this weekend and I might get my Willamette too but it may need another week or two. My centennial probably won't have more than a hand full of cones.

    South Florida Hop Growing

The madfermentist also had a process on his blog of using the microwave that seemed to work well for him. Use it at 50% power in 30 sec intervals stirring each time. My oven only goes down to 180 and isn't convection, without buying a dehydrator, the microwave is pretty much my only option. I...

Whats the biggest bonehead mistake you've made while brewing?

Dropped the "non-sanitized" cap to a vial of white labs into my chilled wort as I was pitching... Left the BK burner on as I was trying to chill the wort, couldn't figure out why my IC sucked so bad...head smack on that one. And of course the ever present forgot priming sugar in fridge and...

Can anyone confirm if my idea is viable for yeast washing?

I'd say give it a try, best part about this hobby is trying new things that people say won't work...only to have your idea work and prove them wrong... Or maybe that's just the competitive spirit in me lol. I still think it's a sound idea, and more than likely wont effect the outcome much if at...

Is cold crashing a starter in the freezer faster?

The only issue I would see is your stressing the yeast by quickly crashing like that. You just spent all the effort to build a starter which is helping provide healthy stress free yeast, now you will turning around and stressing them out. Seems counter productive to me. If your starter wort...

Can anyone confirm if my idea is viable for yeast washing?

Part of the reason to boil the water is to remove the oxygen from the water to help inhibit yeast growth. I think your idea is viable but may not be the best for longer term storage.

    Florida Hops experiment

It's always a possibility, but I view it as a risk of growing hops in general. You can't really get away from tall poles with these things. I just won't be going outside to check on them in the rain. That's too funny, I actually took pictures this morning of mine planning on posting them...

    South Florida Hop Growing

It's the same here, two days now of constant drizzle, and about four hours now of extreme downpour. I've been hearing something around 9in in the last few hours. Fingers crossed my drainage is good enough.

Show Me Your Wood Brew Sculpture/Rig

I don't think your going to have much luck with that, that user hasn't posted since 2008.
