    Great Lakes Hops Proprietary Varieties

I didn't realize they were selling hops direct to consumers. Might try those at some point. Here is the link: https://www.etsy.com/shop/GreatLakesHops?ref=shop_sugg

    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

With out calibration the iSpindel isn't going to be of much use. You'll need to follow the Easy method (I) calibration steps here: https://github.com/universam1/iSpindel/blob/master/docs/Calibration_en.md

Saving yeast at the starter stage (?)

This is exactly what I've been doing for the last year or so. Works perfectly every time.

    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

I used a 2 gallon bucket that I normally use for sanitizer on brew days.

    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

You'll need to go back and follow the Easy method (I) calibration steps (https://github.com/universam1/iSpindel/blob/master/docs/Calibration_en.md) to make sure the iSpindel is actually working correctly. Set your update interval to 20 seconds. Then enter all of the values in Fermentrack. Once...

I apologize. I was very sure that I had downloaded them from there before. Looks like he deleted them from his GitHub. I think the RAR file is still available in this commit: https://github.com/cherryphilip74/iSpindel-PCB/tree/4324b6a314d2ef0845d63ae496183e6908edbab9 Though that seems to be a...

I never went that far down the PHP path before I came across Fermentrack. I use BeerSmith so it was never an issue for me to connect the recipe to fermentation data.

I too investigated the PHP/MySQL route. Then I discovered Fermentrack which is written in Python but does everything I wanted: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/forum/threads/fermentrack-fermentation-monitoring-brewpi-www-replacement-for-raspberry-pi.649303

How did you get started creating your own recipes?

As with most home brewers I started with a kit. In my case a complete 1 gallon Chinook IPA extract kit from Northern Brewer. Not bad for a first try. For my next brew I did some research, located a LHBS, and purchased the ingredients for a Belgian Wit. That turned out questionable at best...

Remove all seals on corny to clean/lube? Or is it damaging?

For my first couple of years of kegging I never removed the o-rings. I cleaned them in place, sanitized, lubed them and put the keg back together. Then I had to replace a set because I filled one of the kegs with root beer for my son. Found that packs of 100 of each size are not that expensive...

    Hello from the Philly Burbs

I've only lived in York for about 10 years. Originally from Pittsburgh. Never heard of Mr. Steve's, so I'm assuming it's closed. But there are a lot of places around here I've not been to.

No. Tilt has the patent on tilt style hydrometer devices here in the US.

    Hello from the Philly Burbs

The local shop here in York is https://baileeshomebrew.com/ Nice Shop. Very helpful. If I really need something specific I usually go to https://www.scotzinbros.com/ in Lemoyne. About 25 minutes from here. They have just about everything. If I'm in Lancaster I'll stop by...

    Anyone completely self sufficient?

I stopped drinking beer outside the house a few years ago. Not long after I started brewing. Mostly because of cost. It's hard to justify paying $5+ for a draft when I have 10+ gallons of beer at home. Which definitely didn't cost $5 a pint to make. I do occasionally purchase a 6-pack of a...

Can you mill oatmeal flakes with the grain

I ran a kit with flaked oats through my mill yesterday with out issue. The grain was pre crushed and all mixed together. I just needed to get a finer crush for my system.

I picked up the all grain version of the "Dammit, Jim. I'm a Beer Kit! Strong Pale Ale" for only $36. That is without the yeast. I don't typically do kits but this is a good enough "Star Trek" gimmick to get me to buy in...

    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

Thank you for taking the time to write that detailed reply. I did read the battery calibration information somewhere. I may go back and try to figure that out. I think my best path forward will be to build a few more iSpindels to experiment with. I can go through all of the additional...

    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

After watching your initial build video, I embarked down the path of building several iSpindel's. I did a lot of reading figuring out the calibration. I finally ended up here: https://github.com/universam1/iSpindel/blob/master/docs/Calibration_en.md and ended up using the Easy method In all of...
