I was given a free Keg, what to do???

Well, I had a friend give a free Miller keg. I have depresserized and removed the dip tube and started cleaning. What are some of the next steps that I need to take?

So I bought these 2 kegs....

Besides rolling in the yard, my wife would probably have pissed herself also!

    Rhizome depth??

Mine are about 2-3 inches deep. My second year Cascades are already 12" and it was in the 30's this morning here.

Why do all my beers taste / look the same ?

The other thing that you may want to check is when you add your LME/DME is it fully dissolved with the heat removed from the bottom of your pot. This may add to your color and give an off flavor if you are burning it to the bottom of your pot.

    Very first recipe

I would probably use a london ale yeast for this. It does not sound to bad though.

    That smell...

I have even been banned from making yeast starters in the house. All brewing takes place in the garage, and then she still complains......then I RDWHAHB!

Tygone is 3/4" ID and the rest is 3/4" PVC not glued.

    Blowofftube

This is what I use for a blow off tube. The tygone tube is 3/4 id. with 3/4" pvc just stuck together, not glued. Bought @ my LHBS.

BOOM! I'm hit, sarge, I'm hit! ....wait, that was my FERMENTOR!

There is a blow off tube that works rather well. It is made from 3/4" PVC tubing and then a small piece of Tygon that fits in the bottle, kinda looks like a hangmans pole. The other suggestion is to get a bigger bottle or bucket.

    Grain Bags / Muslin Bags?

I third the paint strainer bags or second the filter media bags from a pet store. If you run them through the dishwasher on the top shelf they will clean up pretty well.

Anyone have luck challenging traffic tickets?

Got pulled over for 125 in a 55 when I was in High School. The State trooper that pulled me over was the father of my classmate sitting in the front seat. Got a ticket for $35.00 and 1 point, could have gone to jail...

    Apfelwein Questions

The reason behind the dark area is so you do not skunk the beer, your hops are the reason a beer would skunk, they react to light. As for temp, I did mine at about 70 and it turned out great.
