    Barrel help

I ran into a find. I ended up with 2 8 gallon oak barrels and the only thing that they were used for was red wine. When I go them they had not had any wine in them for about 6 months, but were half full of water to help keep them moist inside. What is the best way to help condition these? I am...

Found a great deal, but need some info.

After getting my daily gross of freecycle e-mails I ran across one where a guy was getting rid of some of his old brewing equipment and bottles. When I got there, he had about 150 quart bottles, 2 20 gallon fermenting buckets and then he gave me 2 8 gallon oak barrels that he keep filled with...

To be an IPA or to be an IIPA??

My calculator called out about 150 IBU's, but it didn't taste that bitter. It really had some bite, but now it is just soaking on 4 oz of hops and 2 oz of oak. It was really tasty when I transferred.

    Please help in satisfying SWMBO...

Also, try adding the Zest of 2 lemons to the end of the boil and then cut up the remaining lemon and place in primary during fermentation. I won Second place at the local fair with this beer.

    What to do??? HELP!

I would start off on thinning your big plant back by at least half. That way they will send more energy up to what is left. You can always thin more later. Try and look for the thicker of the bines to keep them around.

To be an IPA or to be an IIPA??

I like the taste of Munich and I used the Melanoidin for a little bit of red color. I usually do a bit of PM with most of my specialty grains also.

    Please help in satisfying SWMBO...

Try this: Cream Ale Most beer styles are formulated for extremes. Extreme hops, extreme malt, extreme alcohol. This beer is less. Without sacrificing flavor, this beer has a clean, light style and drinkable on those hot summer days when extreme beer won't due. 5 lbs Dry Ex Light Malt...

    What to do??? HELP!

I live in your area and mine are already sprouting also. I would wait until they get about a good six inches or so and then decide which ones to cut back. I had 3 bines last year on my 2nd year and they did fine. I just found the rhizome on my 3rd year Willamette and it is about 3/4 in dia. Let...

    Old Bottle Question

Here is a little more detail. I am having trouble with the photo. On the neck there is a raised circle with a raised koala in the middle of it. The koala looks like it might be in a tree, but there is no tree with the design.

    Old Bottle Question

I have gotten a few old beer bottles from a friend and there are a couple of green bottles in there with Koala Bear on the neck. I was just wondering if anybody knew what was orginally in the bottles.

    Packaging Hops

Take your hops and place them on a screen or something that you can blow air through. I used some left over window screen and blew a fan over them until they were dry. Then I weighed them and Vacuum sealed them and placed them in the freezer. Mine are still fine from last year.

    Government Hard at Work!!!

Yeah, probably the same bunch of people that held a moment of silence for Michael Jackson and not the soldier that died on the 4th of July, giving them the right to have that moment of silence.
