    Altbier

Just bottled 3 Six Packs of an Altbier. Plan is to condition at 70 for about 3 weeks and then lager around 35 for a month. What do you think?

    Dry Hopping with Pellets

Should be contained, but the flavor should mix w/the beer.

    Why always bourbon?

Always wonder what pre-American Bourbon Scotch scotch tasted like. LOL

    Why always bourbon?

scotch barrels come from bourbon barrels. LOL BTW I hate scotch unless it's single malt. Give me a shot of Jack D. any day.

Just how explosive are bottle bombs?

Room temp in Hawai`i is just about never 70*. I bottle condition in an apt size reffer. I set each bottle in a six pack container. I have only had one bomb in the past 5 years and the cardboard held it in place.

    Using coffee in porter

I always use cold brewed coffee and add to the bottling bucket at a rate of 8 qz to 2 gallons. I'm thinking of upping it. If you add to bottling bucket taste till you figure out how much you want to use.

    Cooking Oil vs Fermcap

I just use a sqirt bottle w/plain old water in it to prevent boil over.

Getting Red Ale while minimizing flavor effect.

Wish we could buy grain for that price. Basic 2 row is like 1.69 here on O`ahu. The cost of living in paradise is what I'm told. LOL

Found it RED X Malt. http://www.bestmalz.de/en/malts/best-red-x/

Getting Red Ale while minimizing flavor effect.

There is some base Malt that can be used to color red. Forget it's name, but here in Hawai`i it costs $3 a pound. Much cheaper to use a "touch" or dark malts.

    Inappropriately named brews...

Some might think this politically incorrect. LOL

My "touch" was like .3% in the Irish Red and 3 % in the Alt.

That's why I said "a touch". LOL :ban: I added just a touch to an Irish Red and bingo the picture in BeerSmith turned red. Same for my Alt Bier.

    Filtering finished beer

I never filter my ales. I do get very clear by fermenting 3-4 weeks for simple brews. Sometimes I cold crash but not for a long time here are two brews. One cold crashed the other not. Pretty much look the same to me.

I second the Melenoiden and you can use a touch of Carafa II. Using them for my Irish Red.

I am going to go 31 days without beer...

I'm pushing 75 and I have one ale (either home brewed or store bought craft) everyday w/1/2 a cigar. Around 1130 pm I have the other and a shot of some good whiskey. I hike twice a week covering minimum of 6 miles each time r/t. Sometimes we have an elevation gain of 2000 feet in say 1/2...

    Easy Bottling Guide

Nice job. Here is one I made a few years ago. I start w/the bottle I just poured into a glass.

Midwest Supplies now offers free shipping

LOL Just checked my LHBS and they are selling US 05 30 cents less than MidWest. LOL And that price had to include the shipping to Hawai`i for the brew shop owner.
