    "Bottling" in mason jar mugs?

SWMBO brought this up last weekend and I thought is was an interesting idea. I'm a newb (2 batches under my belt) but I don't see why it wouldn't work. As long as they were kept in the dark and out of the light. What are some of the issues of using mason jar mugs to "bottle" your beer in...

    My first label.

Thanks, that's what I was going to do. The reason for the lack of color is I don't have a color cartidge for either of my printers right now so the labels will be in B/W. No sense going with colored graphics when they will be greyed out anyway.

    My first label.

Here is my first label created with The Printshop 20. Made for Avery 5168 (3.5" by 5") labels. Please let me know what you think. :) The image here is larger than the actual label by the way. ;)

    I think I screwed up. :(

It's done.. I boiled another 2lbs of DME in 1.5 gallons and made it a 4 gallon batch.. That should drop the IBUs down to the 60 - 70 range, which I guess now makes this an IPA. :D By the way.. I did get a little aeration when I added the new wort to the batch. :( I hope that doesn't ruin it...

    I think I screwed up. :(

Right now I can't afford a bigger bucket. The buckets I do have are buckets I've gotten for free and converted them to their purpose for about $4 per bucket. I think at this point I'm going to try to get to my LHBS and pick up another lb of DME and boil 2 lbs more of DME in 1.5 gallons of...

    I think I screwed up. :(

Ok, I'm trying to find a way to squeeze in a run to the HBS this afternoon. Is there anything I need to worry about as far as Oxidation by adding Wort now? Anything I need to be concerned about as far as infecting the beer? By the way, thank you all so very much for your help. If it...

    I think I screwed up. :(

How would I go about doing that? I still have 1lb of LME left from the brew, but my local HBS is only opened Wednesdays and Saturday's and I can't get over today or Saturday. Should I just do another another boil with the LME I have left? Also, my next batch was going to be a Raspberry...

    I think I screwed up. :(

Edit: I'm sure you'll want to know.. this was a 2.5 gallon batch and I used the following Hop Schedule: 2.00oz of Cluster @ 60 1.50oz of Cascade @ 15 .50 oz of Cascade @ 5 After looking around that is from what I've seen WAY WAY WAY too heavy

    I think I screwed up. :(

Well, not me but BeerSmith. I took a gravity reading this morning and for the 3rd day in a row my gravity has been stable telling me that the ferment is over. However, I sipped some of the beer and BOY is it bitter. I did some looking around and realized that I think I went WAY WAY WAY...

    Critique this please! :)

    Noted, sir, and thank you.

    Critique this please! :)

I'm trying to put together a recipe for SWMBO for a raspberry ale. The only catch is it can't be too hoppy or too malty. So far here's what I have put together in BeerSmith: Ratdog Raspberry Bleeping Ale American Pale Ale Type: Extract Date: 04/03/07 Batch Size: 2.50 gal...

    Another Fermentation Question

I'll let it sit. :) Since it's my first batch I'm fretting over it like an old hen. ;)

    Another Fermentation Question

Well, I think I just learned something. I've been checking things out.. In my recipe I used: 2lbs of Coopers Light LME 1lb of Laaglanders Amber DME From what I've been reading Laaglanders is only 50-55% fermentable, but the question is, even at that rate (and I don't know what normal...

    Another Fermentation Question

Last night through about noon today the indoor temp was between 70-72. I pitched 15g (1 packet) of Coopers Ale Yeast. I did buy an extra packet, so I can repitch if needed. However, the temp in here did get up to about 78-80 this afternoon, that was after it stuck, though. I've got the AC...

    Another Fermentation Question

Hello all. Yesterday I brewed my first batch following the instructions at howtobrew.com. It's an APA made with cluster and cascade. I pitched the yeast at about 3:00pm yesterday and by 6:00pm I was seeing activity. By 8:00pm it was bubble every 2-3 seconds and by 10:00pm I was seeing a...

WOOHOO First batch is in the fermenter!

I just dropped my first batch into the fermenter.. The OG was 1.051 for an APA, just .005 off the recipe. Can't wait to taste this stuff in a few weeks. :) I have one question though. I have some extra LME. What's the best way for me to keep it? It wasn't in a resealable container. :(

    Newb question on carbonating.

I was down at my LHBS today picking up the ingredients for my first brew tomorrow. :rockin: While I was picking up my LME and DME I saw priming tablets. Are they any good for priming or should I just stick to corn sugar in the bottling bucket?

Question on amount of OxiClean Needed.

Thanks for the response. :) I'm good to go then.. I used a scoop, and was actually thinking I didn't use enough because the instructions says 1-2 scoops per gallon (which seemed like a bit much).
