New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I probably didn’t word my question properly. I’ve found that in my Grainfather, when using 30-50% Malted Oats in most of my brews, along with LAIII, I struggle to make IPA higher than around the 8% range. I’d like to try and make something in the 9-10% ABV range at some point but I don’t want to...

I Remember having a conversation with you a few months back where you suggested that DME could replace dextrose and still add some body whilst also adding abv. What’s the ball park figure in regards to the percentage of DME In the grist if you were trying to get into TIPA territory?

This is my latest beer, a 5% Hazy Pale fermented with US05. I fermented it at 63 and I personally can’t detect any peach notes. I was reasonably generous with the dry hop though so that may have played a part in masking any type of yeast character.

Can fermonsters handle pressure? In my Fermzilla I put a couple of psi into it before I could crash so it doesn’t collapse.

Noticed Narrow Gauge used Turbinado in one of their latest releases. What character is that adding in comparison to just using dextrose?

If moving your keg kicks sediment back into suspension then it’s definitely a possibility. Personally, I’ve found that since soft crashing before dry hop and using a floating dip tube to transfer to keg, I’ve never once had any hop burn and my beers have improved significantly.

Basically just a fancy name for a floating dip tube. https://beerco.com.au/products/clear-beer-draught-system

How are you transferring to keg? I’ve found that since using a Fermzilla my kegs have little to no hop particulate from transfer. I know others in this thread have made their own Clear Beer Draft System for their FV as well. Being able to transfer wort from the top in my FV has made a huge...

Honestly, King Sue is one of my favourite beers so they must be travelling pretty well.

Yep I definitely get the strong Melon flavour you’re talking about.

Yeah there’s been a company distributing some decent American beers for the last 6-12 months here now. We’ve been getting Parish, Toppling Goliath, Untitled Arts and some others. This is the first time we’ve gotten Equillibrium though.

We got these in Adelaide as well. I didn’t end up buying the cans but a few pubs got some kegs so I’ve tried the Enso and Mass x Acceleration on tap and they were both delicious. There was a very distinctive taste that linked them both.

That’s good to hear. I was thinking about doing all Columbus & Comet hot side and then a combination of the other 4 in the dry hopping.

So I have my bucks party in a couple of months time and I’m going to brew a beer for it, trying to use up a lot of unwanted hops and ingredients I still have left. It will be an Imperial NEIPA at around 8% ABV with probably a touch of lactose. My hop inventory is as follows: 250g Columbus...

Recipe for Vitamin Sea Double Summer (4.33 on Untappd) in the latest issue of CB&B Magazine. Found it interesting that they use more hops in the kettle than in the dry hop.

Other Half Daydream (oat cream IPAs) - all grain clone attempts

Here is the finished product. It’s a very solid DIPA but it’s missing something for my taste and honestly I think it might be the lack of lactose. I agree that the grist was a bit too busy. I think next time I’m just gonna go with Malted Oats and maybe some Wheat but nothing else adjunct...

:( Just lost like 7 litres of beer. Accidentally left line attached to the liquid outpost of my Fermzilla after taking a hydrometer sample. Forgot to switch it back to the gas post.

Just from anecdotal experience, this grist being 8.25kg (18.2 pounds) is pushing it about a much as I can with the Grainfather. I’ve toned down the dextrose to 5.5% as per suggestions from you guys that I was using too much but I will look try and eliminate it completely in future brews. I’ve...
