Question on making a wet (fresh) hop ale.

Mick, you will be fine. Just keep them in the fridge. I did the exact same thing last year and my wet IPA was great. sidebar...I have an Uncle in N.L. and went to UofI Brew on! :mug:

Preserving spruce tips for later brews

I have some that I vac-pac'd and froze. Have not used them yet though...I'd imagine they will be a little soft b/c of the ice damage, but who cares? That's how they get after you chuck 'em in any way.

    Good brewpubs/tasting rooms in Denver?

Denver Beer Co. over by the big REI is cool. Wynkoop is a neat old building. Crooked stave is only a 'must' if you like spoiled beer...

    Grass clippings as mulch

I've used it for years in my garden. Don't use clippings that have been recently weed sprayed though. Also don't want to put it on TOO thick because those things get HOT when they start to break down. A good layer will last all season.

    First year hops

I planted 4 rhizomes over a month ago. 2 of them popped within a week. One of them was about a week later. The fourth just emerged a few days ago.

To reuse yeast cake or not?

if you are going to be pitching a few hours after putting it in the jar, there won't be much (if any) settling. Just dump any beer that actually got to the top and pitch the top 1/4 - 1/3 of what's left in the jar.

    Straining Your Fermented Wort

the problem with straining your BEER (which is what fermented wort is called) isn't removing the yeast, it's oxidizing the crap out of it... cold crash it if you can, then be careful when you rack to the bottling bucket not to suck up the grounds if you can't crash, you could wrap your...

    Stone "Go To" IPA

Go To is a gross beer (and how it lands on top 10 lists baffles me) Delicious is anything but.....yuck... 2 swings and misses. The new red IPA is above average and the Americano Stout is really good, but those are the first new beers from Stone that I thought were any good. the two...

Label Peelers pre order...anyone get em yet?

here's the troubling thing though....I'm still short a pound of pre order hops...so that part that annoys me is this....if they were going to end up partial shipping after all, WHY WAIT THIS LONG??? This isn't going to keep me from ordering stuff from them, but I don't think I'll pre-order...

    First BIAB Checklist

you don't NEED to put the chiller in at 45min...you can put it in at flame out and you'll be fine... Plenty of time with plenty of heat (and it doesn't jack with your boil) I spray mine with starsan first though just to be anal about it.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

x4 and I just bottled a batch that I crashed at 10 days and bottled at 2 weeks. Happened to have a extended relative of the wife in town that night and they drank the 'not quite a whole bottle' worth at the end of the bucket and loved it....flat.... considering there is hardly any hop...

got this email today.... Hop Pre Order Update We have finally gotten in our first load of the 2015 HopUnion crop. Unfortunately, not all of the hops came in on this first order since the supplier had to spread the hops out over all of the homebrew shops in the nation. Your pre orders are...
