    Conditioning and Aging Questions

After some time off from brewing to get my E-Kettle and water issues figured out I have successfully brewed 4 batches. A Tallgrass Buffalo Sweat Stout clone, a Founders Breakfast Stout clone, a Milk Stout and a Nut Brown Ale. Now I have all four bottled and in my frig at 70 degrees. With the...

Working on my own brewing spreadsheet/software Need Input

Thanks much. Finally just got some time to check it out. Is there a way to change it from metric to imperial? would like to run some of my numbers in the program to see how it compares. When I done playing with the different programs should be able to finalize one just for my system Thanks again.

Working on my own brewing spreadsheet/software Need Input

Doug, I saved the formula into Excel. In the goal seek function in Excel the 3 input sections are, Set cell, To Value and By changing cell. I've read the help section and I'm not sure which one of the 3 items you gave me go into which input. Any help would be appreciated.

Working on my own brewing spreadsheet/software Need Input

If you want to reverse engineer a spreadsheet to get formulas for conversion efficiency, lauter efficiency, and mash efficiency, you can find one here. Brew on :mug: Doug, I've gone through your spreadsheet and have a good idea what's going on with it. Took a bit of chasing but got it. One...

Working on my own brewing spreadsheet/software Need Input

Thanks for the spreadsheet and like Doug's will give it a look. I spent a good part of the day going through Doug's sheet. Wow, just about like looking at a 4000 point PLC control logic program. I needed a couple of colds ones when I got done. Got a good idea what's going on and now I can see...

Working on my own brewing spreadsheet/software Need Input

Thanks much for the spreadsheet. I'll work my way through it today and see what you are doing. I'm pretty handy with Excel so I thought I'd attempt tp create a sheet that matches my brewing system. I worked with Priceless brewing a couple of years ago. I had just started and with extremely hard...

Working on my own brewing spreadsheet/software Need Input

I have been brewing for a few years and the last few years have gone BIAB with my home built E-Kettle. After struggling to find the best software have been working with 3 programs. Bru'n Water, Priceless Brewing and BeerSmith 2. I've tried them all. I find myself all over the place when...

First All Grain Batch....Looking For Some Guidance

I agree with you and I feel the same way. I did 4 batches of all grain after several extract which were good beers. My all grains were drinkable but not enjoyable. I started posting here to get help and right away was told to get my water tested. Here's my results. Makes yours look soft. Lol pH...

Clone Beer Founder's Breakfast Stout Clone

Sounds good. Would you mind sharing how you do it? There were many versions on cold press coffee. How much did you add? Thanks and I'm getting excited to taste the final brew. The only thing I'm working with is my well water is extremely hard so I had to install a RO filter system. I then need...

Clone Beer Founder's Breakfast Stout Clone

By what I read in your post I'm thinking you put the 2.5 ounces of grounds in your secondary. I read the entire thread and was totally lost on which way to add the final coffee addition. I'm leaning towards cold press coffee in the bottling bucket. By doing it that way I can control the final...

Calculated Numbers Not Working on My E-Kettle

tofuguy, I get where you are coming from. I currently run the SYL-2362 and now that I have spent hours playing with my system have found slight changes in what I do changes the reaction time of the controller/system. My boil-off rate was constantly changing. I now use my insulation blanket...

Calculated Numbers Not Working on My E-Kettle

Surprised no comment on my thread. Oh well. Over the last couple of weeks I spent time reading, tuning my system and playing with programs. I've given up on Priceless brewing and have work just with BeerSmith2. I'm learning what the program is asking of me. After some test runs I'm finding out...

Calculated Numbers Not Working on My E-Kettle

Looking for some help with the calculated numbers and my brewing system. I have a homemade electric brew kettle and have been brewing with it for about 2 years now. It's taken some time to understand all there is with all grain BIAB brewing, water make up and the chemistry part. I'm feeling good...

Clone Beer Founder's Breakfast Stout Clone

Ok I've read this entire thread. Wow! Great to see how long this has run and the interest people have in brewing this great beer. Many pages have talked about the addition of coffee and I'm more confused on what to do but in the end I'll get that figured out. What I did notice is that very...

Clone Beer Founder's Breakfast Stout Clone

I just recently tasted the Founders BS. I loved it. I came across this thread while searching for a clone and as always this site provided me with some great reading. I have a question and it may be a stupid one but here goes. I have not brewed any stout yet with coffee. Being very sensitive to...

Help/Suggestions on Triple Barrel Big Bad Baptist

Well I've been reading a lot about oak additions and I do agree with what you are saying not only on the oak but the other adjuncts. Now for adding coconut, coco nibs and coffee how do you sterilize them before adding them to the secondary without soaking them in alcohol? As for now I'm not...

Help/Suggestions on Triple Barrel Big Bad Baptist

Thanks for your reply. First, I use a 6 gallon carboy for my secondary. With adding the oak chips and other adjuncts I guess that I need to use a pail for the secondary. Next I haven't used oak chips but from what I've read many soak them in bourbon and add the chips and bourbon into the...
