So you liked the way this brew turned out? Did you do a side by side? I know I saw someone said they did. I'm anxious to make this beer cause I love the real thing and it would be gratifying to make it myself I'm just blow away by the amount of dark roasted malts. I have never brewed a stout...

Has anyone brewed this all grain using the recipe provided by byo? I perused this thread and did not see any mention of over shooting the target og. Based on my ibrewmaster calculations the recipe as is with 13.2 lbs of 2-row and all the other grains at 75% efficiency would yield an og of 1.090...

Anyone have anything on this? I know ibrewmaster/northern brewer use wyeast 1332 as the liquid option for the caribou slobber kit where Windsor is the dry yeast. I would really like to find a white labs option as that's what is available at the lhbs.

I second the 10 gallon cooler. I have a 5 gallon and I've regretted not going with the 10 since batch 1. Also the 30 qt pot is like most have said a touch small but if you don't mind a little babysitting you're in good shape.

Wow how is splitting the bill for lunch ( purchase of goods) any different from splitting a bill for grains (also goods if I'm not mistaken). We are not customers, you didn't purchase and resell these grains this is in no way a commercial transaction. We are all "friends". It's a bunch of b.s...

I am out of town on business (Belgium) enjoying some great beer and have send DMace a PM and will be picking my grains up next saturday on April 7th. As for my splits I trust others to take what is thiers and leave what is mine.
