    Double decoction

    I did my first double decoction today it took about 6 hours from mash in to carboy. But after sparging the grains there was this funny looking gray goo on top the grains. Never seen that before even with other all grain batches. Any insight would be great thank you.

    I have always used Irish moss it helps guaranties a clearer beer. I have noticed a crisper test to my beers and less Yeastie taste in the final product. There is very few beers that you would want to skip the Irish Moss like wheats ect...

    Filtering boil through grain bed from mash?

    The biggest concern I would have would be contamination. That bucket of grains has been sitting four an hour around 160-170deg a lot of things can start to grow at that temp. Also tannin extraction could become a problem.

    keg disappointment

    Keep kegging. I have never bottled a beer to condition. And I never will fill right from the keg with a beer gun and be done. Nothernbrewer has a good video page on keg cleaning, or there is a few on youtube.
