    Small batch fermentation rate??

I have done something similar but don't remember a big change. They say airlock activity doesn't represent fermentation progress. Maybe related to additional head space? How active does it look when looking at the liquid itself?

Fastest beers from grain to glass?!!

Received free bucket - type 5 PP

So I did as suggested and hit up a friend of my wife who is a baker for some buckets. She was able to get get me a 3.5 gal one that should work perfectly for what I need. It's type 5 PP, and just looking to see if it is OK to ferment in. I know it's food grade as it had frosting in it. Any...

    Keeping The Pipeline Up

I've been going between extract and 2.5 to 3 gal BIAB. I currently have only two fermenters and can keep them both busy. I even bottled my first Biab while brewing the 2nd batch. That kept me busy and productive the whole time. I just need to work on the over all process to make sure I'm not...

    Bottling Tips for the Homebrewer

Yet another set of kudo's for this post. I took the bottling wand and put straight on the spicket. Nice to free up a hand. Now I just need to get the diptube in place. I didn't have a chance to do that for yesterday's bottling session. But is next on my list to do. Thanks to Revvy for...

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I just did this using Biab method. I took the original recipe and scaled down to a 2.5 gal batch. It is now drinkable and have to say probably my best batch yet. Was also first AG I have done. I would have to look at my notes but I seemed to remember hitting my numbers pretty well.

What I did for beer today

Also yesterday. Prepared bottles for tomorrow night's bottle session. That will free up my big batch fermentation bucket. Also got my internet connection back up after a couple of days. That will allow me to buy the Beer Smith license since demo is up. I can tell I will use alot.

    Maximizing Resource Usage

Yuuuup - realizing that. Amazing when getting into this, I feel like I should be doing sometthing. Even if it's soaking bottles to remove labels and clean. I think that's why I'm starting to dig the small batches I've started. I can stay busy doing things related to home brewing, doubling...

    SWMBO approved Keezer

Nice - I think I could even get that one approved by the SWMBO. I have one of those Armore's in my sitting room. Holds a bunch of crap and a printer. Would be much more productive as a kegorator. Thanks for sharing!

    Maximizing Resource Usage

I've started doing small batches utilizing BIAB, 2.5G batches. What I realized this past weekend when I was bottling what was in the carboy I was using for my small batches was that I could bottle and brew another batch at the same time and turn around my fermenter the same night keeping it...

    Level place for hydrometer reading

Set sample on a piece of wood with a level as well. Make the wood level with the level and when level is level, the sample will be level. Just a thought.

    Teaching My Dad to Brew

I did this same thing over Thanksgiving with my dad. He wanted me to do an Oatmeal stout so we did. He came away from it realizing out was not for him which I was glad he realized that. But I will also plan brew sessions around when he will be in town. He ended up with a case of the oatmeal...
