    CO2 leak in keezer?

Resurrecting this thread to see if anyone else has any insight. I've checked all the connections many times and can't find anything but there is a distinct smell within the keezer. Did anyone else have a similar experience with their keezer build? I can't figure out what it is. It's been...

    Temp control - Fermonster

Let me know what you find. I'm hoping it hasn't been hanging around at 76 degrees for the last week but when tasting the sample I pulled I didn't notice any harsh flavors. Planning on dry hopping tonight and kegging Sunday so we'll see soon enough how it tastes.

    Temp control - Fermonster

First time fermenting in a mini-fridge I converted. I have a strip thermometer on the front of a Fermonster as well as an Inkbird temp probe taped to the side. I have a small watt space heater to heat the chamber as needed and the minifridge will cycle on to cool. The issue I have is when I...

    CO2 leak in keezer?

Thanks again for the advice. I'll keep an eye on it. My concern really stems from when I was cleaning the keg when I first got it. After running some cleaner through the lines and releasing the pressure I opened the hatch to take a whiff if the keg smelled at all and was introduced to the...

    CO2 leak in keezer?

So I just checked everything again and I don't see any signs of leaks. Is it possible that some CO2 just collected in the keezer from purging the keg a few times inside of it? It isn't harsh but it is noticeable or I'm just nuts. I have a 20 lb tank in there so I'm concerned about losing 20 lbs...

    CO2 leak in keezer?

I have a beer in the keg currently. I didn't use keg lube (first beer kegged). I did check the lid seal but I'm not sure I had the PSI up that high. Would you recommend doing this still with a filled keg? I guess I'd blast up the CO2, pull the connections, test with the star san, then purge the...

    CO2 leak in keezer?

I put together a keezer with a 10.2 Cu Ft chest freezer and kegged my first brew. Bought a new ball lock and 20 lb CO2 tank. I've noticed the CO2 burn ever time I open the keezer and have checked the connections several times with star san in a spray bottle. I haven't noticed any bubbling at any...

    Big mouth plastic fermenter

Same as TimDillon. I've used the Fermonster for two batches and it gets the job done. I have the 7 gallon with the spigot and haven't had any issues with leaks or anything like that. I do the same thing for dry hopping.

Yup, will do tonight. Thanks again.

    Racking to a keg

When you say the liquid QD you're referring to the ball lock right? I had thought about that after I filled it that maybe it could be clogged in the ball lock. I have two separate ball locks, one that was attached to a loose hose to fill the keg and then another that's attached to the faucet...

    Racking to a keg

Simply put: I appear to have clogged the poppet in the beer side of the keg. After filling the rest through the hatch will I have to take the poppet off before trying to get any beer to flow out? Or will the CO2 provide enough pressure to unclog it and allow the beer to flow? Thanks! Details...

    Solid Bung for Cold Crashing

Reviving this thread a bit because I'm considering cold crashing for the first time. I have the plastic Fermonster fermenters but I will begin kegging when this beer is ready to rock. Is there any benefit to cold crashing prior to kegging? I guess puts less sediment into the keg?

    98% measured mash efficiency?

Great. Thanks for the insight. I didn't think 98% post mash was possible so I assumed I was doing something wrong.

    98% measured mash efficiency?

I see what you're saying. That makes the most sense to me. I think all the measurements I made were accurate. So do people typically stir up the wort a bit before taking the pre-boil SG to avoid pulling a sample that's skewed by first runnings or sparge? I pulled it from the ball valve on the...

    98% measured mash efficiency?

    98% measured mash efficiency?

This is my second all grain batch and first using the Beersmith desktop software. I have to imagine that I calculated something wrong along the way because the efficiency seems way too high. I brewed a Rye pale ale yesterday using a 10 gallon Igloo cooler as a mash tun with a false bottom...

    Konadog's Keezer

Cool thanks for the information and the quick responses. I'll look into that fan for sure. I'm planning on building a countertop and installing base cabinets on the side of the keezer. I'd have the keezer on sliders or casters that will allow me to slide in and out of a slot between the wall and...

American Pale Ale Sunshine Rye Pale Ale

I just stumbled across this recipe and considering brewing it this weekend and using Mosaic at flameout and dry hopping. Anyone brew this recipe similarly?
