    Grain Infographic

A grain chart like that would be awesome! On the topic of the hop chart, are there any hops not on there? I know there's a couple local varieties not shown and im thinking about asking the original author if he'd mind me editing his chart to add the missing ones. Boy others missing that you...

    Exploring "no chill" brewing

Fairly certain. I'm not sure what the OG was since I was going to take a sample just before pitching. I'll check the SG in about a week to confirm. Should be easy enough to see if it's been fermening or not. I do have a lot of headspace, plan on getting a slightly smaller cube before the...

    Exploring "no chill" brewing

So I came home from work last night, excited to pitch into the batch I brewed up on Saturday and this is what I was presented with: Yep, my cube, all swolen up from some wild yeast fermenting inside. It's the second time it's happened to me with no-chill and I need some help...

    Can't use my chiller

Your finishing and aroma hops will be a little subdued, and perhaps the whole thing will be a little more bitter but as long as your sanitation was good you're ok.

Plastic fermenting buckets - various issues

When empty, I fill them with bleach, water + vinegar (no chlorine comments pls). Same with my no-chill cube. They smell like bleach, but there is no trace of it in the beer at all.

Just bottled a beer I have little hope for...

I've got a batch of beer that I call the "drink-this-after-drinking-a-few-other-decent-beers-so-you-can't-tell-how-bad-this-actually-is" beer. Pretty awful, but I don't need the bottles and it does actually seem to be getting better with time :mug:

    Exploring "no chill" brewing

I've attached an Excel hop adjustment spreadsheet here. Just put the current hops in and it'll spit out the adjusted ones. Not the best, but it works. It leaves FWH and Aroma Steep as is - is this still the general consensus? If anyone has any improvements or suggestions let me know...

    Harvesting yeast from Primary

Reading this thread has got me thinking... Is it possible to harvest yeast directly from Primary? By that I mean: Take about a bottle's worth (call it 450ml) of beer from primary just after the majority of fermentation is complete Seal the bottle (cap it) Stick it in the fridge for 3...

    Maize questions.

I brewed with regular, non-flaked maize this weekend. Put in in 70C water for around an hour, the brought it to the boil and added it directly to the mash. Was a definite gravity increase so can I assume that it was gelatinized properly and the 2-row's enzymes were able to convert starches...

    Exploring "no chill" brewing

Did another nochill this weekend (Cream of 3 Crops Ale) Here is the cube sitting around, doing nothing, jus chillin (bad pun) And here i've chucked it into a slightly cooler vessel (around 16 degrees C) just before transferring to a fermenter. I like to raise the temperature of my yeast...

MIAB Brewing - Mash in a Bag

I use a large bag made out of curtain material as my mash bag. It's a little too fine, especially when using adjuncts. But it works well. Lautering just takes a little longer than my previous bag (mutton cloth, but not fine enough) I also use the mash bags to catch all coldbreak material when...

    New Belgium Brewery Automation Video

Watch here. It's basically an advert for the automation company, but some of it was quite interesting. Especially for those of use who live too far away to be able to visit the brewery
