    better bottle handle...

So i got a new better bottle with the carry handle and this is my first time using it. I already thought it was an awful flimsy design after first getting it and comparing how it is attached to pictures online. I used it today while brewing, had a perfect brew session and didnt make any mess...

Update again, turned off the burner and touch the metal on the stand two minutes later and its already back to cool temp, I think it works for sure.

    Wooden Stand Question

I actually just built my stand and had concern about this happening, and it looks like we have the same burner, see attached pics. I used screws as a buffer and used bent sheet metal from HD, put six screws across 15"-16" space ends and middle, drilled a hole in the middle at the ends and middle...

    Yeast Starter Improv

They do breath you poke holes in the finger tips with a pin or nail so it slowly releases gas but I do like the loose lid idea

    Yeast Starter Improv

Yeah I've got a few boxes of them from my old job and I just put them in the Sanitizer bucket and make sure they fill up once or twice, very available to me. Putting the lid on loosely is another good one now that I think about it, enough room for the lid just to break the seal and release...

    Yeast Starter Improv

Don't know if anyone has done this yet or posted about it before but I decided to instead of purchase a flask or any starter kits or anything, i was going to make my own. This is my second time using it and it works perfectly using a 24oz mason jar and a glove mason jar, glove...

    Bug in my Beer!!

watch the brew master video on discovery about the ethiopian beer they made where they had to manually chew corn kernels in their mouths, spit it out and made some sort of beer. gross but they opened a keg and served it in the brew pub for patrons and made them well aware of the brew process...

    Airlock dried up

is it in a basement? near a small dehumidifier or something? that would dry it out in 9 days depending on the size of the room.

How long can beer sit in the secondary??

yeah as far as i understand, just dont leave a ton of head space above it depending on the size of the batch or it could oxidize, my barleywine is going to sit for months without issue so its fine for 2-3 or almost any beer

    barley wine

I guess ill have that 3 gallon carboy tied up for quite a while then.....Time to buy another one, and I just dropped another $100 on midwest this morning...hopefully the lady friend doesn't see the packages, she just notices the middle bedroom or "brewery" gets a little more cluttered each week...

    barley wine

When you Google it all grain pops up first and extract version is second link, at least when i checked a moment ago, I know barleywine takes time usually so i was going to bottle and let it sit for quite a few months anyway but since it already tasted decent out of the primary i will for sure...

    barley wine

Google gravity bomb barleywine, its in extract form but I'm sure you can convert it using beer smith or something. I have it in secondary now for 3 weeks with oak cubes and then bottling. Tasted it when i transferred from primary and it tasted awesome already minus the heavy booze kick on the...
