    Canned starter wort

Thanks for the info guys. Are you suggesting that the wort I've created WILL infact be infected and useless in the next month or so --even in the fridge? I'm not argueing with you just trying to learn. I assumed that boiling in the BOP and then boiling in the jar and sealing at that time would...

Yeast for use in a Pumpkin Beer.

Why not split into 2 fermenters and use both yeasts. It can't hurt really and just might be a humdinger of a brew!!!!

    "Grapefruit" too strong

What yeast did you use??? That made a big difference in mine, with safale us-05 I swear I was eating a grapefruit, way to strong for me. Now it could have been the combo of hops with that yeast buuuuut...... I made several brews with this yeast and they each had that grapefruit background so I...

    What size Erlenmeyer?

Just my .o2$....Try Martinelli's apple juice jug. Why???? Well I found that it has a flat interior bottom which works well with a stir bar. Most glassware out there has a convexed interior which is not so good for a starter jug.(you know humped up on the inside-which of course will throw the...

    Too Cool for Carbonation?

If 70F is ideal and 66-68F might take a little while longer, what about 75-78F. Thats what the temp range of my spare bath is. Hope I'm not creating problems for myself. Is that too hot??

Just a quick question for Revvy since hes in this thread.... can I carbonate in the bottle with DME, would it provide a diff. taste or should I just stick with corn sugar. Looked but could'nt find this answer. Thanks in advance.

My Attempt at a Pumpkin Ale :/

I too used the AHS Pumpkin Smash kit, and I also added more spice. To the kit I added a big can of spiced pump meat(baked for 45 mins to caramalize) and one of those little (about 1 inch tall) jugs of McCormicks pumpkin pie spice mix, yes the whole thing. The label said this jug would do 3 pies...
