    Measuring Kettle PH

Y'all I was wrong. I was mixing up pH temperature correction in my head with conductivity curve correction. https://assets.thermofisher.com/TFS-Assets/LED/brochures/Auto-Temp-Compensation-pH-Measure-ST-ATCPHMEAS-EN.pdf All ATC does is offset the calibration curve for temperature, it does not...

    Measuring Kettle PH

Here is the cleaning solution. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000EOM4WY?ref=nb_sb_ss_w_as-reorder_k0_1_17&amp=&crid=3SDKHWUOZXL53&amp=&sprefix=ph+probe+cleaning As for uses per year it really depends on what I am brewing, if it is a grain bill+mash profile I've successfully run before I won't...

    Measuring Kettle PH

I have a MW102 that I paid $90 for 8 years ago at home which can be used to measure liquids up to 158F. This meter has a separate temperature probe you stick into your sample. Not too long ago certain patents ran out that enable the cheap production of ATC equipped pen style meters, even KegLand...

    Measuring Kettle PH

Sorry for double reply. Yes you are correct, the elevated temperature will degrade the probe sooner, however it does not degrade the probe fast enough to justify the extra work around properly cooling the sample when replacement probes are available fairly inexpensively, ~$40/2yrs. And as for...

SS Brewtech InfuSSion Mash Tun Custom Heater

The heater was about $55 shipped. Also a zoomed out photo of which section specifically? I can try and grab one tonight. Good eye on the Fuji controller, it is an older PXV3 I got it free when a lab closed down in college ~14 years ago, I used this because I had it on hand and some nostalgic...

    Measuring Kettle PH

You have evidence or just ellipses? I am a chemical engineer by trade. I've had plenty of ATC pH probes in all sorts of industrial applications from biopharmaceutical to continuous commodity chemical processing ATC works you just have to make sure the temperature reading is accurate too. If...

Looking for info on electric brewing panel

There is a lot going on in the image and it is really hard to tell what is going on without inspecting in person. There seem to be 2 sets of SSRs but I am only seeing one heating element. Also the grounds that are not connected to anything leaves me with a truckload of concern. If you want to...

    Converting to 3 Kettle Advice

I am on your same line of thinking of not wanting to deal with a herms coil, effectively cleaning it, or dealing with the dead volume. The solution I ended up with was an SS Brewtech mash tun with an upgraded heater. I have documented my upgrade path in the thread linked below. It holds mash...

    Measuring Kettle PH

So I'm using a pH meter with temperature compensation, so I just cool the sample within the temperature range recommended by the meter manufacturer and take my measurement.

    hefe pressure fermentation "failure"

My guy, you did a lot of what I do to favor the clove side. If you want banana, beat the **** out of the yeast. Favor a mash that is more wheat than barley, barley brings more ferrulic acid which converts into clove. WLP300 Pitch about 88billion cells, use any of the available calculators to...

Excessive sulfur (H2S) production during Hefeweizen fermentation with W68 (WY3068/WLP300/OYL-21) that lingers

I've usually brewed my hefs with WLP-380. It kicks out sulfur like mad, think hot rhino farts. I usually let it sit for 2 weeks after fermentation is complete with only an airlock on and temperature set at around 21C and the sulfur has died down pretty well. I carbonate after this using either...

    Keg tubing and fittings

Looked back through my past orders, you're right, I did also order a 1/4" npt male x female valve as well. Apologies for the confusion.

    Issues calibrating Inkbird ITC106VH

Few question Have you updated your input probe type to Pt100 in the settings? Default value is K type thermocouple. Have you ensured continuity on all (3) lines of the Pt100 sensor? This almost sounds like a loose connection. Have you tried hooking up another Pt100 to the controller to figure...

    Keg tubing and fittings

I've done about 4 of those for friends, you can unscrew the barb from the valve and replace it with whatever fitting you like, just make sure to use thread seal tape or pipe dope. If you aren't comfortable with this route, plenty of other suggestions have been made here, best of luck on your...

    Keg tubing and fittings

May I ask what is stopping you from changing out the barb on your regulator? I have mine swapped out for a 1/4" MNPT x 3/8" pus to connect John guest fitting. The barbs on regulators are usually 1/4" NPT and you can swap them out for whatever you like.

    Red IPA recipe

I'm guessing you went with Carastan regular not carastan light? What more were you hoping for on the malt side? A description may help guide you? Is the character you are hunting for akin to what you would get from Victory Malt?

Preventing O2 ingress when cold-crashing for lagering - ideas?

Any interest in a ****** CO2 generator? As in 2L soda bottle with water, sugar, bakers yeast, use some carbonation caps and bs to attach to your lid. Include a tee between your CO2 generator and your fermenter and have the third leg of that tee go into a small container of star san, this way you...

Ferment in keg ... how to measure volume?

Cheap ass luggage scale. Weigh the keg when empty, record the tare weight, fill your keg, figure out mass of beer you added, divide by density of beer which you can calculate from your SG as noted above...

    Why do people Quit brewing?

Life gets complicated, their ADHD needs a new stim, more fancy new beer is available so you can just go buy and not down a whole keg, friends stop coming around as much so consumption slows down, financial situation changes, goblins have stolen your children and you must now quest to get them...
