Spike Conical Heater fails again--second in 3 years--ideas?

if you are ping ponging, what port do you have your temp probe installed on?

Freak of Science...a NEIPA turned clear...?

What hops were you using in the WP and DH? I remember something from a podcast where the folks from Green Cheek, Fidens, and Russian River were stating that some hops were not as good at maintaining stable haze. The one that stood out to me was Mosaic, on its own mosaic is fairly weak in that...

Extended the shelf life of IPA

Second this. I also add 0.2g of kmeta to every IPA keg. The ascorbic and the kmeta are added to boiled and cooled water which is then injected into a purged keg using a syringe and ball lock disconnect.

You comfortable scraping some of that rubber back to see if you can reach a reasonable amount of conductor to solder to?

Morebeer's new bottom drain brew kettles

Agreed. I think the cooling jacket is a bit of a jank addition. On a BK at this scale even insulation in that jacket is jank.

3 Kegland Rapt devices have different temp readings

The temperature on the pill has always been dubious. Especially when you are directly connected to it to access the calibration portal. My theory is that the extra workload on the processor heats up the airspace inside the tube and then will throw it off while attempting to calibrate.

    Sterilizing that head space

Thing to keep in mind is that my process always leaves you with a keg full of star san. The one where it gets pushed out with CO2 is the one that is going to get filled right now. Then I am left with a CO2 purged keg for immediate use, and one keg that is full of sanitizer to push out with CO2...

Spike Conical Heater fails again--second in 3 years--ideas?

The strain relief and mounting for the cables out of those heaters are pretty craptastic. Make your own strain relief by zip tieing the cord with a few inches of slack to one of the legs. This way if anyone yanks on the cable the force isn't applied to the junction of the cord and heater. Also...

    Sterilizing that head space

The way a lot of us have been doing it is to cut the dip tube on the gas post so that it is flush with the inside of the keg. Then we put on a gas qd on the gas post and have the keg that is filling with sanitizer tipped enough so that the gas post is the highest point. This way you can do all...

SS Brewtech InfuSSion Mash Tun Custom Heater

This thing has actually been up and running for over two years now and has been rock solid. I know the zip ties I have for strain relief are minimal but they have worked incredibly well and I have had no issues. The rock wool insulation I am using in the bottom is not showing any deterioration...

Jones'ing for a stainless fermenter - maybe Delta

So aside from not having residual aroma, what are your actual goals with the fermenters? Pressure Fermentation, Yeast collection, Yeast and Hop Dump? What do you have to supply cooling? I think narrowing down the things that are important for you will help make a suggestion,

    WLP-002

Be careful WLP002 can sometimes get too sleepy even if there is available sugar left, and then you get a second round of fermentation when you move the wort to bottles or kegs.

    Carbon Dioxide dangerous?

The CO2 could do it, depending on what you are fermenting and yeast choice the sulfur compounds aren't really helping you out either. It really depends on a bunch of factors including number of air changes/hr (volumetric airflow divided by volume of room) your HVAC is putting out. You could get...

How are you measuring the gravity? If your gravity is actually real, you could use a bit of amylase enzyme.

    Home Assistant Rapt Bluetooth Integration

I've used it with an esp32 bluetooth proxy. The signal was super spotty even with the esp32 right on top of the conical. Going to try some stuff with another AP I have lying around. It made the integration into home assistant easy, however there was no integration to pump out the data to the...

    Beer Cool Down

Is there a section that pulls out to help wash dishes and stuff? If so the bit where the hose attaches to the faucet outlet is threaded.

    Beer Cool Down

Before I built my dedicated basement space. I teed off the supply line to the faucet and added a valve and garden hose thread.
