    Mold in one bottle?

Yeah, I thought that at first but these were all cleaned when I got them, and then cleaned a second time prior to sanitation and bottling. I'd be surprised that much filth went unnoticed. As for stickers/labels, I usually don't bother too hard with removing them.

    Mold in one bottle?

Sorry for the giant photos, not sure this is in the right place. First brew after almost a year early January; Fermented 2 weeks, Bottled without issue, no strange smells or particulate/mold in the fermentor ... bottles been sitting for 3 weeks ... as far as I can tell this is the only bottle...

    brewing with brett

Thanks. I suppose racking to secondary in a week or two and forgetting it exists for a while is à good course of action?

    brewing with brett

Nope sure didnt. I did understand a saison would take a while but never even considered that long. Just wanted to take advantage of the heat. Gotta say im more than a little bummed out but its fermenting now, nothin i can do but wait. Guess ill have to collect some more equipment and make...

    brewing with brett

Ok, so this is my third biab all grain. Third beer ever actually. It's been hot as hell where I live so I figured it would be a good time to get a little funky and brew up a saison. Found a recipe I liked hit the brew shop. Local shop owner asked if I wanted to go traditional or off the rails a...

    water volumes

100% newb alert, so bare with me please. Maybe I'm missing something here but I'm trying to come up with a definitive water volume for a biab no sparge brew. I want 10 litres in the fermenter, grains will absorb .7, .8/L since I'm squeezing the bag. Hop pellets I assume is almost nothing...

    First Brew Ever

So just to touch base, first brew went ... well interesting. As I previously said I was given everything to brew from a friend, with no formal instructions, so I've been pouring over books and websites. After reading a bunch of different recipes, I kind of just pieced together my own...

    Temperature

Yeah, I went ahead without any formal set up, gonna use a tub and some ice if necessary. Weather's been pretty mild for me right now so temperature hasn't been a huge issue, although I did manage to screw some other things up. Whole different story. Thanks for all the advice though, still gonna...

    Temperature

Yeah, that's what I was eyeing. And I have a free fridge I could get within the week. Just wasn't sure how necessary it would be because getting another fridge in my place will be a pain in the butt. Guess it's something will have to do to make tasty brew.

    Temperature

Was planning on brewing my first brew this weekend, unfortunately time didn't allow it. It's beginning to be summer where I'm at and I have no temperature control in my apartment. The more I read about how temp affects fermentation the more hesitant I am to brew in case the resulting temp...

    First Brew Ever

hahah I have not attended any brew sessions, but I have spent hours reading about brewing and feel pretty confident on making a basic first brew. Also, I feel there are some things I just wont get the hang of until I go out on a limb and do it. Thus trying something simple as a first brew...

    First Brew Ever

So, a friend recently gifted me his homebrew set up. Nothing fancy, but absolutely everything I would need to start brewing in a bag immediately. Always wanted to brew, never tried before. Was recommended to skip extract and go straight to all grain and that works for me...
